Forums - Gaming - Nintendo dismisses idea of entering resurgent PC market

Pc gaming is the best platform and software sales are the biggest profit for nintendo so entering the PC market would be smart.

The Switch has a very different appeal then people who buy a PC and many might even like to have both, play anywhere like xbox is doing would have MUCH more appeal if it was combined with the switch because you could continue your games on the go.

Anyway, I never expected them to enter the PC market but it would be very profitable.

Idk if I can see Nintendo go the PC route anytime soon. I feel playing Nintendo games with their hardware feels natural for me as the games that are made by them are usually made with the hardware in mind. And its not just the power and specs, its the controller, the feel, the sound, etc. You couldn't do the SNES type of music on the Sega Genesis as indicated by AVGN comparing the two. You probably couldn't do the type of four player matches in Smash Bros. for the N64 on the PS (I may be wrong since I haven't played a 4-player multiplayer game on the PS). I'm sure Melee fans will attest to the feel of the Game Cube controller. And its the same on the handhelds.

I wouldn't rule anything out, but Nintendo is not in a tough spot as they used to be a few years back when they were suffering their first losses in decades (and for only about 3 years). Now, the Switch providing new ways to play, especially with its versatility, and the 3DS is still kicking with its latest and future titles in place.

Seems op's threads quality is declining recently.

That was obvious.

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

Great news, it would only lead to their consoles becoming obsolete.

I'm not convinced that that market is "huge" as you say. We know, for example, that EA makes 3 times more on consoles than PC (and that includes browser games).

I think PC is getting those games because console architecture are becoming similar to the PC's now so porting is easy. I don't doubt for a second that if consoles were to disappear, all that would left for PC gamers to play would be MOBAs, MMOs, RTSs and other F2P stuff.

Yeah but we also know that they refuse to release their games on the largest PC games store in the world. It would be like Nintendo refusing to let their games be sold on Amazon, they'd still sell well but they'd definitely sell less than they could...

I doubt people are silly enough to not buy EA games just because it's not on Steam.

"We are aware that many consumers play PC games. However, we believe that the integrated hardware-software business is the best way for us to provide the surprises and new gameplay experiences that we want to achieve," said Kimishima.

That must be a translation error. That's not how you spell "milk more money than ever imaginable".

Mh, and that's not how you pronounce "i'm a cheapskate and don't value video games".

Hunting Season is done...

I know they never will, but playing Nintendo games on PC without a voice chat phone app would be super sweet.

This is a weird question, and the answer is probably about the same as it's been for the past 30 years. It's not Nintendo's market. It's like asking why Toyota doesn't build airline jets.

I describe myself as a little dose of toxic masculinity.

Resurgent PC gaming is misleading. The resurgence is mostly driven by F2P games in China or South Korea.

Thats why GTA5 and other games like it that has never had any big price cuts is still always in the top spot on Steam and why some of the top selling games on steam cost "Money"..

GTA5 is an evergreen title - the PS4 version is still $60 on consoles too.

Well, the top selling games would, of course, cost money. I'm sure F2P games aren't placed in the top sellers list.
