Did you get all the mem cakes and go back to Central Station?

Not yet, but I heard about it because I usually don't care much for post-game spoilers. I think it'll take me a while to get there, but I'm definitely gonna do it.

Seriously though, can we stop this shitty debate about "it's a port" or whatever? It's so fucking pointless it actually hurts, and it's also fucking wrong. The game was built on top of Smash 4, that has been confirmed by Sakurai, if that constitutes it as a port in someone's view then great, call it a god damn port and stop annoying everyone else. It has largely improved graphics, new music, new stages, new characters, revamped moves for nearly every character (and some featuring major moveset changes), and the core mechanics and physics have been dramatically altered - such as the way knockback works, how the whole gameplay is faster, how rage has been altered, or even how explosions as a whole have had their properties altered and now all work similarly to Link's new Remote Bombs. And the menus, as if that was supposed to make any difference, are absolutely nothing alike, you'd almost literally need to be blind not to see that.

I remember there being a discussion a few weeks ago about whether or not sheer ignorance should be ban-worthy. I have to say you're really treading that line, Shaunodon.

Firstly, I posted someone else's thoughts on the game and just highlighted a couple of the interesting bits. Second, you're now at the point where you just want to ban people for wrong think?
I thought this was a forum for healthy debate, not people who just want to purge anyone who doesn't see things their way.

Ok let's reel in the personal attacks there buddy.

But I will say the whole "x YouTube channel agrees with me so I'm right" approach will go nowhere.  We'll just have a couple pages of videos split evenly between both sides and be right where we started.

I say, if you are unconvinced it's not a port, wait for further info.

I have been unconvinced this was more than just an enhanced Smash 4, and this was further info for me. Since this person has actually had a chance to play an early copy, process his thoughts and provide an in-depth preview, I felt his opinions held some merit. I still can't be conclusive though until I've actually played the game.

But then I could link you to videos from people like ZeRo, who played the game for over 7 hours and knows Smash 4 intimately and he says it's not a port.

Which is why I said it goes nowhere.  What I meant by further info was from the developers.  So far we have 2 fully new characters and one clone character plus other fighters absent since Brawl that had to be completely recreated due to radical differences between Brawl and Ultimate.  And in the case of Wolf, he's just completely different all together.  But we don't know yet how many more characters there are.

We also haven't seen what other modes there are either.  Or how presentation has changed outside of the very limited look we've had.

There's more to learn about this game.

SPLATOON 2 IS A PORT

Dunno if anyone else here plays Minecraft, but the new Better Together update is such an improvement imo

I hope it can be taken impersonally if it comes from a stranger.

I was under the impression that, despite your long ranty paragraphs you wanted this debate to end, yet here you are.

It felt worth sharing the IGN video since the guy had at least tried a copy of Smash Ultimate. I'm not sure why you're sharing a video of some random edgelord on Youtube, who thinks non-stop condescension and sarcasm will help make his argument.
I already watched Zero's video that Nuvendil mentioned and it at least made some good points.

For someone who has put over 1000 hours into the game,... I don't trust you :3

Intel Core i7 8700K | 32 GB DDR 4 PC 3200 | ROG STRIX Z370-F Gaming | RTX 3090 FE| Crappy Monitor| HTC Vive Pro :3

As expected getting wins in tournament mode is harder now than it was in the demo. Thus I suppose this mode can sorta serve as the ranked mode you'd see in other games. Round 3 and up usually have strong opponents so you can still get a relatively consistent challenge.

Finally got my copy of MTA ! Now time to test the improvements (and hopefully they nerfed a certain Chain Chomp insane coverage)
I have not played against many Chain Chomps nor have I used him myself yet, but I don't think he's any different. Definitely not as popular as before, likely thanks to the lag being fixed.

Chain chomp is still a pain. He covers nearly the whole field and is still hard to beat. Power shots help against him.

Actually I've been playing the Simple Class mode instead lol. And he's pretty easy, since there's no trick shots to help him. I just beat a Top 50 easily in my last match (though is ratio wasn't extraordinary :P)

Current stats : Simple Class

2nd National ranking (Canada)

25th Worldwide ranking

15 tournaments won

92% ratio win/lose

I've put way too much work into this ... need a BIG nap now.

Yeah, chain chomp's speed is his Achilles heel in my experience in the demo and without trick shots he's going to be pretty bad.

Yea, I'm done.

It's alright, normal people can go on knowing it's a new game and others can go on complaining about a new game that they either wanted but for some reason can't be happy about getting, or never wanting in the first place.
