Nintendo financial reports are the only ones I'm ever interested in lol. Mainly for the game and console updates. Let's get MK8D to 50 million units!

The Switch officially passes the 3DS in Japan at 24.6 million units.

The only systems in the Switch's way to become the best selling gaming hardware in Japanese history is the Game Boy and the DS, which both reached 32 million units. Not sure if the Switch has those kinds of legs to reach in Japan, but never say never!

Out of curiosity, who moderates this thread? lol

Mods aren't really assigned to any particular topic. If there's a topic that they think is problematic and someone needs to keep an eye on it, then generally it will be divided by interest. So, if they thought this was going to be a problematic thread, I probably would have kept an eye on it, just cause I was one of the bigger Nintendo fans on the mod team, and was likely to be around a thread like this anyway. Or sometimes it could work the other way, like when TLOU2 came out and people were being shitty because they're mysoginistic and transphobic they really cared about accurate portrayals of women in their zombie apocalypse games, the mods who had no interest in TLOU2 would probably be more active because they didn't care about spoilers. It actually led to an odd situation where people claimed I was a super big TLOU2 fan and woudln't stand for it being besmirched, when actually, the reason I was doing a lot of the moderations there was because I didn't give a fuck about TLOU 2 one way or another.

Of course, that's just my impressions from when I was a mod.

On topic, anyone think we'll be getting a big Nintendo June direct? Personally, I'm kind of hoping for it but I'm a little doubtful. Usually they use that time to show their second half of the year lineup, but this year we already know a bunch of what's coming out. Although I guess they could show some more stuff for Splathreen, build some last minute hype for Three Hopes, nail down a release date for Bayonetta, and hopefully announce a launch date for Advance Wars.

I don't think we know about their holiday lineup aside from the new Pokémon game. So far we are in the know up until the end of September.

That's why I see no reason why there wouldn't be the usual big June Direct this year.

At this time last year, I believe the only major first party titles we knew about for anything past June were Skyward Sword HD, and Pokemon Diamond/Pearl. Wario Ware, Dread, and Mario Party were all announced then. This year, we already have Xenoblade 3 and Splathreen with release dates, and Bayonetta 3 and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are confirmed for 2022. We also know that BOTW 2 was originally planned for this year but was delayed, so there may be a gap in there schedule.

So, basically, we know about 4 major titles that will, presumably, release in the second half of this year, which is the amount of major releases they had in 2021. If they have the same output as they did last year, then we basically know whats coming, and we shouldn't expect as big of a direct as we had last year. Of course, it's also possible that they'll just have more content this year.
