Forums - Nintendo - I think SNESSuper Famicom Mini is a rip off. Why I suggest not buying.

Good thing is that if OP doesn't buy it, there's one more unit in the market for someone else to get.

absurd. on the Eshop you'd pay like 5$ a title and end up spending more on these games. Beyond that, obviously there's value to people in LIFE to have a convenient package. For old games in particular, when it can be difficult plugging in old systems. This is a nice little mini package with HDMI hookups.

I think you're deliberately being dense about why this is a popular item/idea for some sort of ulterior motives (i.e. maybe you don't like Nintendo?).

I mean people were spending $50 on Atari Flashbacks for years, and those things are awful.

AT minimum the NES Classic proved to be pretty great emulation (much better than Nintendo's Eshop NES games), and of good build quality. The arguments of "oh I'll just emulate them online" or "some other company released a compilation on a disc for a better price" are not really apt comparisons because this is obviously a product that is aimed at people who want something to plug into their TV, and who specifically are fond of this particular NIntendo system.

Your complaints just make no sense. If Sony released a Playstation Classic I would not magically make any of the same claims you're making either. It's just illogical.

Now if this stems from frustration of not being able to get one due to Nintendo potentially understocking- I understand your frustration. It's absurd that NIntendo potentially won't be restocking the NES Classic considering the demand. But obviously there is massive demand for these products and frankly demand decides value/price in a market. People are willing to pay what they're willing to pay.

Your thread does seem a bit strange though considering the NES Classic was sold at $60 and from its inception it was sold-out and being sold as high as like $200 online. If anything Nintendo is NOT taking advantage of the massive demand with the SNES classic by only going up to $80. They'd almost certainly sell them at $100.

Short of piracy, you are not going to be able to get this collection of games for a cheaper price.

Titles like Secret of Mana, Earthbound, Yoshi's Island are high priced on the original carts. And the addition of a completed unreleased Star Fox 2 (not the hacked together beta versions that have floated around on the web) also nullifies that as being something you could easily find for $80.

While there maybe devices and software collections that contain more games for a lower price, for this group of games, even if you own one or two, if you can get it they will be a steal. Particularly if the quality is done on par with what I heard (since I have yet to see one 'played' out in the wild) the NES game emulation was done on the NES classic.

I have nothing to add. Uh, how about that weather?

No, you're copying it. The source of the data remains unchanged. The legal rights holder of that data still have access to it. Nothing has been taken from them. The question is whether it's legal to copy the data, not whether it's stealing, because it isn't.

Oh, I see what you meant. Semantics... I disagree, though. I consider it stealing - a digital form of - when a hacker breaks into my computer and takes my files with him even if I still have a copy of them.

It´s a collectors item, not a main console.

Ohh I'm sorry, were you saying something, racist? See I just redefined "racist" to mean anyone who disagrees with me. It's all a matter of semantics, anyways, isn't it?

It's not a matter of semantics at all. It's a matter of using words properly. Digital Piracy has a proper definition. Stealing has a proper definition. They are not the same. You can't just start re-defining well established terms to fit your narrative. Piracy is not theft and you're just going to have to come to terms with that.

I pirate stuff all the time but I literally just looked up the definition of piracy on dictionary.com and yes, it's stealing. People go to jail for it! People pay fines for it!

Just admit that you and I are criminals. Like Han Solo. We're a couple of Han Solos.

Copyright infringement is illegal. That does not mean it's stealing. It's akin to saying that Copyright infringment is tax evasion because people also go to jail and pay fines for that.

What?! No. Let's get back to the beginning... You said someone doesn't "took" something by copying digital (or by taking photocopies) data just because it's not a physical object and the person still has the original. Correct?

So, is it wrong when I say "I took the song from my friend" when what my friend did was copy the song to my flash drive?
