The hype is still there, though the shortages definitely is hurting them
In the long run, I'm not sure how the Switch will end up doing, so can't say for now :/

[3DS] Winter Playtimes [Wii U]
Too soon to predict if it will match the PS4.
But is the hype dead? Well on Amazon the Switch is being sold for $100 to $120 above MSRP and is going toe to toe with the PS4 being sold at $30 to 50$ bellow MSRP. And is demolishing the Xbone. So you tell me, does that seem like the hype is dead?
Demand is there, they just need components.
Can't really say for sure until it passes around 8million sold. Once the core base has bought the console, then we will have a better idea on how well the switch will do beyond hype etc.
I just hope Nintendo is keeping some units aside from each batch to grow a holiday season cache. I can see switch doing big numbers with Mario releasing and if Ninty can't capitalise on that, it would be a shame.
Oh, its @spurgeonryan thread, so nothing relly strange here..

If a system is selling out like the Switch is, it means that at its current price, demand is greater than supply. So the idea that the hype is "too low" is nonsensical. If the system is selling out, then demand (which I guess you can also refer to hype) is high.

We don't know if it's doing well, only that it's doing better than wiiu. It's so supplied constrained that it's hard to say much about it. For example, wii was supplied contrained but also pulled big numbers. Could it have done better than wii with proper stock? Perhaps. Having said that, software sales, from what I've noticed, are pretty high. Both 1st and 3rd party games. Don't know if it will keep being the case when more and more games are released on it, but at the moment, things do look good. |
actually we do know its doing well, out of DS, PSP, 360, Wii, PS3, 3DS, Vita, Wii U, XBO & PS4, only Wii & PS4 have sold more in the same time frame.
