I seriously doubt that the switch will end up doing ps4 numbers in the long run. I'm sure it will do well if not great but I don't think it's also going to be on track to outsell the DS or ps2 a few years from now.

It's going to do better than the 3DS, but sub PS3/360. That's my guess. I don't see Wii numbers for example.
Keep in mind the weekly sales of the ps4 are going to be boosted a ton to make up for how badly off the numbers on VGchartz are to the sales figures which Sony released last week or the week before, Sony said they've sold 60m systems, that means VGchartz has to make up the 1.1M between now and when that figure was released which means you automatically know what the next weeks sales of the ps4 will be from now until we reach the date of that announcement on here with numbers... which will be some time in November
Why not check me out on youtube and help me on the way to 2k subs over at www.youtube.com/stormcloudlive
this thread makes no sense, you acknowledge that supply issues exist then proceed to imply that the drop in weekly sales is due to lack of hype.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
Oh, the hype is still very much there, make no mistake about it. And it's not going anywhere anytime soon.
ATM, I see the Switch doing around GBA/PSP levels of sales, maybe PS3/360, so somewhere between 80-85 million. I don't think it's catching the Wii or PS4.

1.5 million. The sales numbers were 60.4 million.

Sometimes I really wonder if half of what you post is sarcastic Spurge, I really do.
Wether it will end up selling more than PS4 or not is another discussion, but its simply ridiculous to think that the enthusiasm for the Switch is slowing down.I mean, the thing is selling left and right, it dosent stop selling out, and you work on a game store and you go on and say stuff like this?
Please, please say you are being ironic Spurge.Or at least put some more thought into stuff.
My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

The Handheld console market is at a low point for potential install base. Nitendo's home console appeal among gamers is relatively low. But that said, combining the handheld and home console market potential for firm Nintendo fans still gives Switch a life times sales potential of about 60-70 million (based on WiiU + 3DS sales, noting that there will have been a lot of people who bought both Wii U and 3DS so the markets are not completely segregated). Switch appears to have a wider appeal to gamers beyond its core of support, so you can ad several million to the "base" level of sales. The question is does Switch appeal to the casual / non-gamer market? I'm not sure it does, to the extent that Wii did.
My guess is Switch's maximum market potential is about at the same level as Wii. But it's far from clear that Switch can reach it's maximum market potential. OTOH Switch's floor is more or less around where PS4 sales are now.
PS4 could reach Wii levels, and possibly a bit beyond. But it's not certain it will.
I think it will be pretty close.
