Eidos Montreal's cheeky reference to a single letter of the alphabet has baited speculation that it's working on Thief 4.

"Eidos-Montréal is proud to announce the recruitment for our 2nd 'AAA' project.
... A hint! The title begins with the letter 'T'", the studio's teased on its website.

Obviously Eidos has other IPs beginning with the letter T (it's true), but a new Thief game has been leapt upon because the Montreal studio is currently whipping Deus Ex 3 into shape.

Both properties have a linked history, Thief: Deadly Shadows and Deux Ex one and two being previously handled by Eidos' Ion Storm studio which closed for good in 2005.

Eidos's UK arm responded with a "no comment" when questioned on Thief 4 being in development this morning. We wouldn't be at all surprised though if Eidos Montreal's "2nd AAA" game turns out to be exactly that.

The only other major franchise Eidos has that begins with a "T" is Tomb Raider.

I really hope this isn't another Tomb Raider title.

Doubtful it's Tomb Raider since that is being developed at another studio.

Wow, I hope they'll do it. Thief III managed to be very good even despite the flaws forced by XBox1 compatibility.

as long as it's not like Thief: Deadly Shadows , then it's fine by me. T:DS was terrible, it suffered so much of consolitis.

Thief 1&2, thems the best stealth games.
