nice work on the thread
the action/adventure/platformer section is a strange one like you said :)
some good games this year even if surprises were few and far between
Hm. I missed the voting thread.
- "If you have the heart of a true winner, you can always get more pissed off than some other asshole."
"Nintendo not only made one of the most shooters out there..."
Biggest compliment of the year - Axumblade, 2017.
I don't remember if I voted, but it's cool that VGC had its own E3 awards. I agree with the results overall. Mario Odyssey was def my best of show game.

Fresh shooters
Ok, I know I'm going to get a lot of flack for this...
But am I the only one who found the Beyond Good and Evil trailer - especially the dialogue - extremely cringe? I'm just sick of companies trying to "hardcore up" their franchises for a more "mature" audience by having all their characters say "f***" like it's on their word of the day calendar. I found most of the characters insufferable, especially the monkey. Also, I haven't played the first but from what I have seen of it, this seems tonally inconsistent to a ridiculous degree.
I get people are excited for the next BG&E (even though this is a prequel and thus not tying up any loose threads), but I dunno, aside from it looking pretty (which means nothing since it's a prerendered trailer) it didn't do anything for me.

You definitely aren't the only one. As evidenced by Axum's lowkey allusion to it in his OP, many people felt the amount of "fucks" in the trailer were cringe and over-the-top. In the end, it makes it seem more immature than mature in the sense that a 13 year old wrote the script.
However, the environment they built in the cinematic was intriguing, I'm guessing that's what people liked most about it. (Apart from the fact that it's BG&E, obviously.)
