Forums - Gaming - How Microsoft could make the Xbox One X a huge success?

https://creators.co/@domwatling/4299712

I've been seeing a lot of criticism around here lately surrounding Microsoft's new console, but I think it has a lot of potential in the way it seeks to combine the PC and console market and could appeal to a new audience previously uninterested in PC gaming.

I hope you enjoy the article that you guys inspired! I look forward to debating the details of it with you in the comments.

It's easy really.

Step 1: Put them in one of these.

Step 2: ???
Step 3: Profit!

But no, there is no way to make it a huge success. The only way to make it a small success at least is to have several exclusives that people want really bad. That works quite well for other consoles.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Easy....

Tons of exclusive games 1st and 3rd party from Western and Japanese devs that utilizes the XBOX's power.

That will also increase the success of all XB1 in general since they'll share the same library.

I think that's what everybody's been saying since the dawn of time as the most staple for a successful console, yet MS still doesn't know how to listen.

Buy Nintendo.

Microsoft should sell XBox to a more competent company, I think Samsung could do good with the brand, they definitely have the money to spend.

Sales prediction, PS4: 122 Million, Xbox one: 50 million, Switch: 105 million.

Microsoft has to show people that they are serious about improving gaming. As it stands now, many people, including myself, see Microsoft as an entity that is just using the gaming market as a way to increase profits and interest in other services and programs.

Personally, I don't trust their motivations at all. As a PC user, I think W10 is anti-consumer and I despise their UWP format. I will never, ever forget GFWL, either, which was utter and complete trash.

In order to counter perception, Microsoft has to invest. They need to start from the ground up and build studios or purchase studios that are up-and-coming. They need a schedule of new and interesting games that show their commitment and they need to avoid things that look predatory. There is just this image of them taking all the shortcuts they can, like buying Gears or building a Halo factory. It might be unfair but that's still the impression they leave.

Buy Valve and enable Steam on Xbox.

Did you write that? Pretty good. Don't have the time or energy to really get into it today, but will address one thing. Article says: "There was critisism that Microsoft were stretching the definition of an "Exclusive" title when almost every game shown would also be playable on a PC." That's one thing, but how many of those titles will also be playable on the PS4 down the road? I was only half paying attention to their conference, but was well aware that the flim-flam artists from Xbox were doing their thing again at E3. Every time I recall that voice saying "exclusive", I want to punch somebody in the face. As for the amount of success the XBO-X will have? I'm gonna say PS4 Pro levels at best. And when I say PS4 Pro levels, I mean pound-for-pound, which is to say it won't sell as much as the PS4 Pro in total, but will account for a similar percentage of Xbox units sold along with it's base model.

Yeah I wrote it - thanks! Been doing some writing in my spare time, which has been fun.

Definitely some of these games will be playable on PS4 further down the road I think, but Microsoft were (for obvious reasons) vague as to which games those applied to and when. I'd assume the ones titled "Xbox launch exclusive" - which wasn't as many as the "Microsoft exclusive" titles.
