World Wide numbers?

The Switch is main stronghold is Japan and NA. Sony's stronghold is Europe lately the Switch has serious supply issues in Japan causing it to outsell the PS4 only by 5k weekly, according to mediacreate. Meanwhile Sony won May NPD and by that NA. Considering Europe is a stronger market for Sony than NA and for Nintendo it is exactly the other way around it's safer to assume the PS4 is outselling the Switch at this moment than the other way around. Obviously supply issues have influence on this trend. But as long as Switch doesn't win NPD or Japan by a large margin, it's safe to assume Europe and pretty much the PAL region as a whole is buying more PS4's than Switches since they also get the least Switch shipments. The only world wide number we have is that Sony sold 7 million units in 5 months, because VGchartz is lacking in numbers again. For alligned launches we have a thread which will be updated once we get new hardware numbers.

I still think it's a little ridiculous to say nothing Nintendo does can "touch Sony" though. That's what I initially replied to. If Nintendo is either slightly above, at or even under PS4 WW numbers each month, I would call that touching. This definitely isn't a one man race anymore.

Err... i don't?

There is no point in having a race for power. Sony has this gen, i doubt the XBX will make a dent on that. It will still be MS' move. Sony can wait this out and can even make a pro 2 if they want. Though i hope not.

What are you saying? It is a one sided race. The PS4 has a 60 million lead. Do you think the switch will ever catch up before the next generation comes?

I'm good with PS4Pro and wouldn't mind PS5 taking it time to launch, but wouldn't be pissed if they launched it.

duduspace11 "Well, since we are estimating costs, Pokemon Red/Blue did cost Nintendo about $50m to make back in 1996"

Mr Puggsly: "Hehe, I said good profit. You said big profit. Frankly, not losing money is what I meant by good. Don't get hung up on semantics"

Azzanation: "PS5 wouldn't sold out at launch without scalpers."
