I'd "blame" Mario Party. It's sold over 3 times what Mario Party 7 sold and it's still going.

Hudson makes Mario Party, which goes a long way to explain their success. They aren't the best developer out there, but still pretty decent.
Good to see "3rd parties don't sell on the Wii lol" finally starting to die, but its replacement "bad games selling on the Wii means good games will never come!" is every bit as annoying and fallacious. -_-
Hudson is throwing some serious weight behind WiiWare, ten upcoming titles, IIRC. Since they also have a large number of VC titles, I take this to mean that they've made a nice nickel on VC and see downloadable games as a big growth market.
Right now, Hudson is the king of casual/party software. It's cheap to develop and some of them sell extremely well, so I have no doubt that they're raking it in from things like Deca Sports and Bomberman games.

I don't know but they are strongly committed on Wiiware. They have 10 title planned for that platform, some of them are sequels of Hudson's famous PC Engine series like Star Soldier, Bomberman and Devil Crush ( YAY ! ).

They certainly don't puke up a high budget disappointment every few years like many of the other software companies out there, but they are known a lot more for their good than their bad. They may not make the best games (they're still pretty small, even after all these years) but they make plenty of great ones and I've never played a bad game that they've made. Mayeb they don't fill everyone's cup of tea, but these guys made Bomberman, Adventure Island, Lode Runner, Bonk, and Mario Party. They may not be big, and they may not put out the best games ever, but they are not a shovelware company by any means. |
I agree with ChihiriMuyo, Hudson is one of the oldest japanese software house and has an history of strong software achievement on 2D console ( they are small ), they even were a first party of Nec console !
So shame on whom think Hudson is a shovelware company !
