Forums - Sales - Hudson Expected to Increase Profits 400% because of the Wii

Hudson, a shovelware company? Are you joking or are you confusing them with someone else? They certainly don't puke up a high budget disappointment every few years like many of the other software companies out there, but they are known a lot more for their good than their bad. They may not make the best games (they're still pretty small, even after all these years) but they make plenty of great ones and I've never played a bad game that they've made. Mayeb they don't fill everyone's cup of tea, but these guys made Bomberman, Adventure Island, Lode Runner, Bonk, and Mario Party. They may not be big, and they may not put out the best games ever, but they are not a shovelware company by any means.

Anyway, good for Hudson. Their eternal friendship with the big N is paying off. They've made more games for Nintendo's systems than any other, even in the worst of Nintendo's days, and it's paying off. Now let's hope a couple of the following seven Wii games is going to turn out fantastic (couldn't find the 8th game they have planned for this year, and they may not even count the first four since it may be fiscal year).

Wii Riot Zone 01/14/08
Wii Lords of Thunder 02/11/08
Wii DoReMi Fantasy: Milon's DokiDoki Adventure 03/10/08
Wii Deca Sports 03/19/08
Wii Deca Sports 05/13/08
Wii Wi-Fi Taiou: Gensen Table Game Wii 05/22/08
Wii Bomberman June 2008

Claude, they have a ton of stuff on virtual console, at the least. They used to put out a high volume of great titles, actually, and of I'm the opinion that the brief stint where they backed the TG16 instead of Nintendo hurt them big time in the long run, though that is where a lot of their VC titles are coming from (and, in turn, a lot of VC's TG16 titles are from Hudson).

This is why console sales matter. This could not have happened for them on the PS3 or 360, and it will mean more games for the Wii, even if most are crap. Any studio who sees this, will have yet another reason to jump on the WiiTrain (to be released Spring '09).

They own the rights to Blaster Master, right?
Give me a new Blaster Master!

I actually forgot about their VC endeavors and the upcoming Bomberman Wii game that I had planned on buying.

That's Sunsoft, not Hudson. And I'm pretty sure they don't make games anymore...

Good to see that the Wii is a potentially viable market for third-parties. Hudson and Nintendo have seemed to be pretty good pals for a long time.

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

No one blamed Wii Fit yet? Something is wrong here.

I blame Wii Fit. Good for Hudson, the wii must be working out for third partrys now, most of thier games are rubbish though.
