I remember holding a brand new copy of Hybrid Theory in my hands, that's how long I've been into this shit.

If I remember that song correctly, not much Metal in there, not much Metal involved in Linkin Park overall and specially the last Pop album before the vocalist committed suicide.

Yeah I know. It was a partial joke, but also I would argue that LP's first two albums are metal anyways. That is definitely one of the poppier songs though

Lol , Hybrid Theory was my "first heavy metal" album

I consider Hybrid Theory half heavy metal and half hip hop.

If I could be honest though, even though the record isn't that long, I think it's one of the best albums I have ever listened to in my life. Every track from top to  bottom is phenomenal.

Lots of people mistake Hard Rock with Metal so it felt like plausible mistake, to make the joke more apparent next time you could call Numb an example of Gothic Grindcore or something. :P

Arguably one of the best heavy metal songs ever

Who cares if it's basic bitch

This is too basic to deserve a reply :P

Linkin Park is more so hard rock than metal yeah. Then again, even classic bands are still being argued over whether they're metal or rock haha : P

>Too basic to deserve a reply

>Gets one

lol : D

Opeth were a band of wasted potential in my eyes. So many great ideas trapped in poorly conceived song structures. That said, My Arms, Your Hearse is still an enjoyable listen, and they've a few other songs dotted throughout their discography that are good too. Their modern material is pretty poor though.

I remember Linkin Park exploding back in the day, and playing Hybrid Theory on repeat whilst playing Grand Theft Auto on the PS1. Fun memories. Still think the album holds up quite well today.

While I do love Bathory's black metal music, their viking metal music were also must-listens. I love the guitar intro to this song, I wish I knew how to get that effect on a guitar myself.

Hybrid Theory was my first heavy album too. I stole my brother's discman to jam that shit on the busride to elementary school

Nu-metal is shit on a lot even though it was the entry point for a lot of metalheads. Oh well, in the end it doesn't really matter

I see what you did there. :P

The image I get from "off-tempo clapping" and "playing an organ solo" is of a man and his lonely nights. :P

Oh you mean Mikael Akerfeldt in the studio? Hahahahahaaha

Yeah, and Tobias Forge in the studio too.

Freaking Quorthon man! R.I.P.

Bathroy were actually the first band to release a PROPER Black Metal album. You listen to their first and it is pure Black Metal.

In the Black Metal mood, something Black:

I'll check it out! In any case, I've been listening to some sludge metal recently, so that is a hint at what the next album of the week will be.

Sorry guys for posting some more Gotsu Totsu Gotsu, but THAT FUCKING BASS!!

Anyone remember Dethklok? The good old days of staying up late and watching Metalocalypse and Home Movies. Don't really listen to it anymore but Brendon Small just came out with a new album Galaktikon II: Become The Storm.

Here's a sample.
