What a day!! My 2 old heavy metal buddies, Abbath and Reim, returning within a day of each other!! Hopefully you 2 both stick around!

It's like The Avengers assemble, and in the same manner on day I'll be gone and you won't see me like in 4 years or so. :P

Yeah a little bird told me that Nickelback was dominating the VGC music threads and I just couldn't sit around and let that happen >:(

Too bad Vektor is no more RIP

Can never get enough Opeth recs! Actually that's a lie; if you recommend modern Opeth to me I will buy a VGC gold membership just to block you

You can actually block people with Gold? I didn't know that,

What is modern Opeth for you? Latest album or even before that?

I was going to liken my return to the solar eclipse today. See you in 37 years!

Yea supposedly you can hide all of their forum posts

Imagine a continuum that has Organ solos on one side and Mikael growling on the other. When the albums began to fall on the organ solo side, modern Opeth was born. It has its merit I'll admit but it just isn't my cup of tea.

Good metal song

I remember holding a brand new copy of Hybrid Theory in my hands, that's how long I've been into this shit.

If I remember that song correctly, not much Metal in there, not much Metal involved in Linkin Park overall and specially the last Pop album before the vocalist committed suicide.

Yeah I know. It was a partial joke, but also I would argue that LP's first two albums are metal anyways. That is definitely one of the poppier songs though

Lol , Hybrid Theory was my "first heavy metal" album

I knew the eclipse wouldn't bring anything good! Just fucking with you. :P

I liked the latest album too, but jumping from old Opeth to new Opeth is like being in a moshpit with eerie sounds playing in the background and then appearing in the middle of an inflatable castle with kids pushing you around while a clown is doing his shit-show.

Arguably one of the best heavy metal songs ever

Who cares if it's basic bitch

Hybrid Theory was my first heavy album too. I stole my brother's discman to jam that shit on the busride to elementary school

Nu-metal is shit on a lot even though it was the entry point for a lot of metalheads. Oh well, in the end it doesn't really matter

My favorite metal band is probably Volbeat, although they're not really 'pure' metal but rather a combination of metal and rock n roll.

I knew I had forgotten to reply to someone in here.

I like some Volbeat songs. And I recall hearing the first song you posted from their latest album, but I haven't come around to listen to it yet.

I recall reading that James from Metallica was influenced by Volbeat's vocalist in the way he sings now, never got around to check how much true that was though and I am way too lazy to do it right now. xD

Lots of people mistake Hard Rock with Metal so it felt like plausible mistake, to make the joke more apparent next time you could call Numb an example of Gothic Grindcore or something. :P

I started with Korn.

I remember listening to my walkman (mainly Sepultura's Arise)and CDs during a school trip and my friends told me because I was hooked to that walkman most of the drive: why don't you give the bus driver a CD of what you are listening to (he was taking requests and CDs) and I was like: fuck no!

Then a friend said fuck it and decided to disrupt a whole trip of nothing but Rap/Reggaeton requests and gave up his copy of Hybrid Theory. The driver put the album, the students in the front heard a few seconds, moaned and bitched about it, and screamed: "pull that shit off!" and the driver did and somehow my friend's album was never seen again!

The image I get from "off-tempo clapping" and "playing an organ solo" is of a man and his lonely nights. :P
