Forums - Microsoft - Assassin’s Creed: Origins Was Up And Running On Xbox One X “Literally Within Days”

Devs seem to be really enjoying the Xbox One X. I think this is one of the most important things about the new system. They are getting their games up and running in no time and have nothing but good things to say about it.

Xbox One X’s true 4K helps bring Egypt to life, says the game director.

“As soon as we got our hands on the console, on the hardware – we have really brilliant engineers,” Ismail said in a post E3 interview. “They took it, and literally within a few days we had it up and running. It was amazing, the guys were actually quite thrilled. Just to see what the game looks like in 4k- it’s beautiful. I’m so proud of the team, and the art that we have, and our engineers are brilliant.

Why would it take longer when they just have to put the X1 version as is on the XBOX and then just slap some AA on it?

Now if it was the other way around, that would've been an achievement.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Quick porting is incredibly important for both the Pro and Scorpio if they want consistent support on relatively small install bases, so it's nice that we've heard reports like this quite often.

That's quite remarkable considering how good it looks. I can't wait to see the final product.

ESRAM isn't an issue?

But you would think if someone is making a mid gen console that the dev solution would fix that. Just like the Pro runs two PS4 GPUs or something. They wouldnt just go heres the console, figure it out for yourself.

So is it good that it doesnt take a lot of effort, yes, am I surprised... no. Dev systems have changed a lot since the XB360 and PS3 days, but as these are just mid step consoles, its not surprising at all.

Apparently not.

Same base OS, same architecture. Not really surprising. A few tweaks and you're done. Doing crossplatform with the PS4 isn't difficult as well. FreeBSD is also widely used in the industry despite not being used much commercially.

So the Xbox One X emulates an Xbox One pretty well, and requires minimal work to adapt an engine to deal with the new hardware. That's all that headline actually means. These systems are designed to work this way.
