Forums - Gaming - Nintendo has the most receptive fanbase for any gaming company

This is what I've noticed about Nintendo fans since I started surfing internet gaming websites about Nintendo fans that is NOT applicable to PlayStation, Xbox and PC gamers. These aren't all negative or positive, the company should be held upto some of these standards but on others I can agree with them. They are:

They don't complain about hardware capability of their system and its price to performance ratio.

They don't complain about lack of big AAA third party games on their Nintendo platform and are willing to spend more on another entirely different platform for that rather than wanting everything on that one platform. They should

They don't mind having only a few new games to play every year. Is that a good thing?

They don't mind paying for ports of Nintendo games that are three years old and that they already own. (This could apply to PlayStation fans as well but only in case of Naughty Dog games) or quantic dreams games or all the ps1 and ps 2 classics on ps3 and on the ps4 and shadow of the colossus and so on....

They are highly excited for almost any game that is made by Nintendo because its made by Nintendo and looks fairly decent.

no, the same applies for microsoft and sony

They like portable gaming as much as gaming on a TV or monitor. the 3ds sold way more than the wiiu I would say they like portable gaming way way more than gaming on a tv

They don't mind a lack of content, or don't perceive a less than 50 hour long game as a short game. who thinks a game is short if it isn't 50 hours long? the only ps game I know that's too short is the order

They prefer PIXAR like graphics over realistic graphics. ok

They prefer gameplay simplicity and accessibility over depth. I don't know

They are less critical of their company of choice over any issue and the criticism that comes from them for their preferred company is more constructive and doesn't consist of blanket statements. we are talking about nintendo fans? those guys are as bad as all the others

They like playing retro games more than others. eh no

They almost only discuss Nintendo games and not any third party games even when they do have other platforms to play most third party games that they say they bought to play those third party games. that's not a good thing

In what world is any game under 50 hours considered a short game?

Many PlayStation, Xbox and PC gamers have this thing in their head, if its not 50 hours long its not worth sixty bucks.

Don't ask me why, I have no idea.

Just curious where you're seeing or hearing this, because that's just flat out silly.  I'd lower that number down to 15-20 hours, and it really depends on the genre.

I was going to respond to all of your points, but they became so ridiculous (simplicity over depth? Yeah, Zelda and Pikmin are soooo simple compared to your average shooter) that I realized this thread didn't warrant or deserve a point by point refutation.

Also, I noticed who the OP was; suffice it to say when I see your name it's generally sitting alongside a post either praising Sony or shitting on Nintendo.

Why you have TLOZ in your Avatar's name?

Double post.

Edit: sorry, didn't read your thread. But don't need. It is way to obvious

They don't mind a lack of content, or don't perceive a less than 50 hour long game as a short game.

I would really only consider any modern game that's under 10 hours a short game, so like any entry in the Uncharted series.

Nintendo fans aren't a monolith. No fan group is.

If you take the time to talk to us you'll find folks who like mostly Nintendo games, folks who like a mixture of Nintendo games and non-Nintendo games, fans of SRPGs, fans of puzzle games, fans of shooters, fans of online multiplayer, fans of local multiplayer, fans of bite-sized portable games, fans of games with hundreds of hours of content. You'll find liberals, conservatives, atheists, Christians, Muslims, Jews, students, bankers, actors, construction workers, journalists, caretakers, athletes, introverts, extroverts, etc. You'll find fans vocal in their frustration with poor business decisions and you'll find fans willing to shrug off those same decisions.

There are Nintendo fans of all tastes and perspectives. It's a heterogeneous group that shouldn't be pigeon-holed.

These aren't all negative or positive, the company should be held upto some of these standards but on others I can agree with them. They are:

They don't complain about hardware capability of their system and its price to performance ratio.

Uh no, plenty of Nintendo fans complain about hardware performance

They don't complain about lack of big AAA third party games on their Nintendo platform and are willing to spend more on another entirely different platform for that rather than wanting everything on that one platform.

Uh no, third party support is like constantly one of the 2-3 most talked about topics by Nintendo fans

They don't mind having only a few new games to play every year.

Uh no, Nintendo fans would prefer more but are OK if they get some killer Nintendo software

They don't mind paying for ports of Nintendo games that are three years old and that they already own. (This could apply to PlayStation fans as well but only in case of Naughty Dog games)

Applies to every fanbase

They are highly excited for almost any game that is made by Nintendo because its made by Nintendo and looks fairly decent.

No they are excited because Nintendo is generally one of the best if not the best publisher of games in the world

They like portable gaming as much as gaming on a TV or monitor.

Debatable

They don't mind a lack of content, or don't perceive a less than 50 hour long game as a short game.

They prefer PIXAR like graphics over realistic graphics.

Not really. Did you see the initial backlash to cell shaded Zelda? Or Chibi-style Metroid Prime? Depends on what IP you're talking about

They prefer gameplay simplicity and accessibility over depth.

Keep digging your own grave bud, how about this statement Playstation fans prefer superficial graphics heavy games that are thin on game substance but heavy on B-grade wannabe Hollywood storytelling.

They are less critical of their company of choice over any issue and the criticism that comes from them for their preferred company is more constructive and doesn't consist of blanket statements.

They like playing retro games more than others.

They almost only discuss Nintendo games and not any third party games even when they do have other platforms to play most third party games that they say they bought to play those third party games.

Edit: These are based on comments on various sites, discussions and buying habits I've noticed. Rather than spewing hate for some of the statements that you don't agree with come up with a rational reply.

My Troll radar has exploded...

There's a thread on these forums where Reggie basically admits they announced Metroid Prime 4 early because fans were "eager" for news, as in they've been furious with Nintendo in the past and Nintendo wanted to satiate them.

Even then, within an hour they were complaining about the aesthetics of the 3DS title or that Platinum wasn't working on Prime.
