I haven't looked for one.

But in the two electronics chains I've been to since it released (Media Markt and Elgiganten), they had them in stock.

And I just checked their websites, and they both have 100+ (thats the highest number) available for order.

Probably no supply issues in Sweden.

Same in Slovenia, Croatia and Austria. I've seen plenty. I wonder why Nintendo doesn't shift supply to areas with a higher demand, like the USA.

I don't quite understand it, either, especially considering that they paid extra to fly consoles to meet demand.

Are you aware of the market sizes you are looking at? All the currently available supply in the four mentioned countries probably doesn't even combine for 10k units, so it wouldn't be more than a drop in the bucket for the American market.

Nevermind that Switch is supposed to have available stock. It's happening sooner in certain countries, but that doesn't mean that Nintendo will continue to send shipments and have them pile up in stores and warehouses in those countries.

It's regularly in stock in Italy, the 5th largest European nation, and slightly less often in the UK, the 4th largest, so all of these markets aren't small.

While there certainly won't be enough to meet demand, it makes you wonder why they bothered spending additional on air freight, if units are regularly sitting on shelves now. That being said, they're still selling out, and some of this is definitely hindsight (The Italy availability has been going on for over a month, though).

Ninendo doesn't really have any "problems" right now, at least not any bad ones. Just look at the last poll: the percentages are nearly the same.

Still sold out in Canada. Bestbuy, Amazon, Walmart, EBGames, etc

Air freight was exclusive to the USA and launch month. Done to secure the good PR of strongest Nintendo launch in history.

Generally speaking, I think it's mostly an issue of hindsight being 20/20. Was it necessary? No. Could they spend money to ship units to heavier demand markets? Yes. Should they? Probably not, because that demand is almost universally outstripping demand.

This is a discussion that is involving quite a bit of guesswork in regards to the allocation of Switch units, but the easy way out is to wait until the end of July when Nintendo announces their shipment breakdown by region (Japan, Americas, Others). I am leaning towards the Americas receiving a higher percentage of the total units than in the launch month, but we'll see in 1.5 months.

I agree; people too often seem to think that Nintendo doesn't have an army of marketing and distribution personnel.

I haven't been looking with great effort, but I have found a few extras in Walmarts that have less shoppers

Still haven't bought one yet though, since the price :/
