Forums - Sony - Shadow of the Colossus Confirmed as a Remake, Not a Remaster

So why didn't they just make Shadow of the Colossus 2?

Around the Network

This needed clarification? I mean you can tell it's a remake just looking at it first glance. Great news about the controls though.

Never played the original because it looked too outdated but I'll be all over this.

Not to be that guy, but if the content of the game is basically the same as the PS2 version, and only assets are what's being modified, isn't this basically a remaster, not a remake?

Well, now I'm buying it.

Glad they are redoing the controls. I played SotC for the first time earlier this year and it was an intensely frustrating experience (although I've heard that the PS3 version is extra busted...)

So bluepoint have done uncharted remasters, Metal Gear remasters, sotc + ICO, God of war collections, flower, titanfall for the 360, Gravity Rush and ps all-star battle royale.

They are a really good team for remasters/remakes and I hope Sony keeps them employed to remaster game after game. So many potential titles like killzone trilogy, resistance trilogy, Motorstorm trilogy etc that could be done. Long may it last.

Perfection doesn't need a sequel :D

In seriousness, a sequel would be orders of magnitude more effort. They'd need to start from scratch, and the expectations placed on it would be far higher. All a remakes requires is giving Bluepoint a bag of gold and coming back a couple of years later.

The trailer was quite beautiful.

So, it's a remake that tries to be as close to the original as possible, with the option to even go with the original controls. That's actually pretty cool, I still need to play the original version, but if I see this for cheap I'll definitely pick it up.
