Forums - Gaming - Sony ‘held back’ on E3 2017 announcements, admits Shuhei Yoshida

I have been predicting  this for quit some time on my streams now.

President of Sony’s Worldwide Studios Shuhei Yoshida has today confirmed during an interview that Sony has ‘held back’ on some E3 2017 announcements of new games.

Well, considering that the conference only lasted an hour, it makes sense.

i feel like they want to do two things

1) stop announcing games so early, so they need a quiet year of announcements to catch up

2) want to make PSX at least equal to E3, if not surpass it in importance to them, in terms of new announcements

The Last of Us II being announced at PSX and not E3 is a good example of this

That would explain where the heck is Sucker Punch.

Bet with gooch_destroyer, he wins if FFX and FFX-2 will be at $40 each for the vita. I win if it dont

This just makes me more excited for the conferences later this year.

Probably in reaction to complaints about games being shown too early. Maybe, I don't know.

I think since last years PSX its clear, they want to give their own show a bigger focus and make it more relevant and since they are still doing E3, they will have 2 big shows a year and oviously they cant have those massive shows like last years E3 which was freakin awesome.
But obviously most people and the media wont look at it like "Oh you have 2 shows a year compared to others who have one so we will add them both together and compare those shows then..."

From now on i know, i shoud never expect a Sony E3 like last year again, i will go and look at it like, i will get 2 good/decent shows a year instead of one big insane show, while others like Ubisoft and Microsoft will obviously have 1 show a year you can look forward to and will be better than Sonys E3, but we will also get a good PSX Event.

I wonder if Sony will have a press conference for Gamescom this year - it takes place 2 month from now, TGS is 1 month after that and Paris Games Week is at the start of November this time, which seems uncomfortably close to PSX.

No they will still show games early, which i personally support since i like to know what i will get to play as a PS4 owner even when its years away.

When you make a console, i think you should announce games early and show a lot of them to show people what they will get, when they want to buy a Playstation/Xbox console. But thats just my take on it, Sony seems to do it, while Microsoft steps away from it.

how is this news worthy? anyone can say the same thing really and it's common sense to keep a few ace up your sleeve.
