| germibobi said: Can anyone explain how Nintendo won E3? Metroid was just a teaser, game probably isn't coming in next 2 years. Aside from that it was mostly recycled games and games for kids. Can you honestly compare most of those games to serious AAA titles like God of War, Detroit, Anthem, Battlefront, etc.? |
The Metroid announcement is similar to the announcement Shenmue 3 in that it hits the nostalgia feels.
Nintendo won, and no, NOT just because of Metroid and Pokemon. The whole presentation was awesome. That new Mario Odyssey trailer was pure magic.

All of the games Nintendo showcased were just... FUN which is all that really matters whether you cared for Nintendo franchises or not. And they did it in a nice simple non-burdening way.
I've missed Nintendo direct but still I can say that they've won obviously. Metroid Prime 4 announcement was already enough to win E3 after what Sony and MS showed at their conferences. And Nintendo showed even more. I'm definitely buying Switch sometime this year.
P.S. If we talk about the big 3 it this E3 was Nintendo >>> MS >>>>>>>>>> Sony personally for me. Unfortunately Sony didn't give any reason to buy PS4 slim this year after the good first half of 2017 in terms of software output. It seems I will wait for next year and then play all the games I missed. This year I'm gonna spend my money on Switch and (maybe) upgrade my Xbox One to One X.
I'm gonna give it to Microsoft. I'm a Sony fan and I love their games but their presentation was boring. Sony's games appeal to me more but Microsoft had a better show.
PC GAMING: BEST GAMES. WORST CONTROLS
A mouse & keyboard are made for sending email and typing internet badassery. Not for playing video games!!!
UBI>NIN>PS>MS

NiN E3 made it look like Switch has legs. Reasonable third party support as well. Event was polished on another level. Totally different feel than a live show, but it works. So far so good for Switch.
UBI flat out just had a great live show.
PS1 - ! - We must build a console that can alert our enemies.
PS2 - @- We must build a console that offers online living room gaming.
PS3 - #- We must build a console that’s powerful, social, costs and does everything.
PS4 - $- We must build a console that’s affordable, charges for services, and pumps out exclusives.
PRO -%-We must build a console that's VR ready, checkerboard upscales, and sells but a fraction of the money printer.
PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.

Did any of those games cause the buzz that the announcement of Metroid Prime 4 is causing? I don't think so. |
He included a Biotrash game on his list of all things (not to mention Detroit, cinematic game made by a studio known for bad writing/direction) ... he lost any reason by default.
Bet with Teeqoz for 2 weeks of avatar and sig control that Super Mario Odyssey would ship more than 7m on its first 2 months. The game shipped 9.07m, so I won

That sums up my perspective also.
We're definitely on the same page today :)
