Well, we are a few hours past MS's E3.  And an E3 many were looking forward to as a soft reboot to the XBO brand.  To be filled with Scorpio talk and many games that showed off its power, as well as some exclusives that made the purchase worth it.  I think, as I'm sure many would agree, that's not exactly what happened.  Still, with it being E3 and all eyes were on MS for the first day, you would think sales would have seen a decent boost.  I don't think that happened, though.  Especially if we look at Amazon and Gamestop.

On Amazon, the XBO has failed to make it into the Top 100 for the month's of April and May, a first for this gen.  June, even though we just had E3, looks to repeat that trend.  When the conference was over, the GeOW XBO Bundle jumped to #88 in the hourly chart, but then it slid down relatively quickly.  First, to #93, then to #97, and now it's gone from the Top 100.  Now, this may change if Scorpio preorders open up before the month is out, but at $499, I doubt it will make it into the Monthly Top 20.

On Gamestop, the PS4 Gold SKU is the #1 item.  The first XBO SKU is #210.  It's even being outsold by the Pro and PS VR headset.  Again, this may change when preorders for the Scorpio go live, but I doubt it's going to have much of a lasting affect at $499.

So, I think it is safe to say, this was not the E3 MS needed to have.  I think it also cements the fact that MS is spending much less on the Xbox division.  Much of what was shown were timed indie exclusives.  A far cry from the AAA exclusives, timed or real, from the 360 days and the first year or so of this gen.  I don't even think they announced that they had any DLC exclusivity.  Thoughts?

I think it's safe to say I told you so.

If you demand respect or gratitude for your volunteer work, you're doing volunteering wrong.

Yeah, I don't see the disappointment. I've had my Xbox for months and haven't plugged it in yet. Now I want to. This is a huge win for me.

They had what was probably the best presentation of the lot though, but the One as a concept and platform has gone on too long in its current state and they stumbled not only out of the gate, but even before they reached it.

Are you takling about the flashing lights and music? Well, they were often synchronized, I'll give you that.

I think they were somewhat outmaneuvered by Sony.
It was said that Sony had acquired most of the advertising rights for the "cool 3rd party stuff". That seems true as we didn't see a single trailer of all those games at the presentation. In the end, the whole thing appeared somewhat barren of "cool stuff". 2D side scrollers, cartoonish stuff, and for heaven's sake: Minecraft, weren't really the right stuff to show 4k superiority. So it didn't help at all that most of the stuff they did show is easily reproducible on a PS4 Pro with the same perceived quality.
It will be interesting to see what Sony does today. If they fall into the "show all the cool 3rd party stuff" trap then XBox fans can simply add "...and it will look better on the X" (and probably be right in some cases).

This thread isn't really about current XBO owners, though.  I do think there are probably more who are disappointed than are happy with it, but still, that's not what I'm talking about.  This is more about general interest from consumers, which then go on to buy the system.  If the sales on Amazon and Gamestop are anything to go by, E3 did nothing for the XBO.  People are just not interested in purchasing it.  This E3 needed to change that around if XBO's fortunes are to change.

When you say "of the lot,"  I take it you mean their previous E3 conferences and not the other Big 2.  I agree it had a much better flow to it than the past ones.  But, the content that was shown was definitely not of the caliber of the past ones.  I mean, many the titles they showed were timed exclusive indies or multiplats.  And while they looked good, that's not going to get people to buy your system.  Especially when those indies will also be 4K on the Pro and the AAA multiplats will look 90%-95% the same on the Pro.  And boy, did Crackdown take a hit on the visuals.

That's because it was sunny out, no cloud to help it run.

Ok yup, I will see myself out.

I am pretty sure the Xbox X (what a terrible name) will sell well, specially in the USA.
And they once again have the better console specs wise, so, there is that.
But, games wise, it is still very anemic and underwhelming, very by the books and uninteresting.
