They could because they only need to show off 1 big AAA exclusive and announce another and they automatically beat them. They could hold things back for PSX.
They are more likely to do a last minute improv (a la their 2013 'used game' thing) than Nintendo is anyway. A live conference has that benefit.

Even if the show were underwhelming, it shouldn't be that big of a deal. Remember, Sega once won E3 during the time of the Dreamcast, and we all know what happaned with that.
Half of Sony show is going to be Battle Front, COD, RDR, Destiny and some other multiplats which all will look and play significantly better on Xbox scorpio. So half the show is guarantee to be a dud imo. With that said, I'm interested in days gone, death stranding and last of us 2.

Sony should still want to make the best showing they can. I hope they don't announce stuff ridiculously far in the future though. Just wanna hear more about stuff we currently know exists.

If they show RDR they'll win the show without showing anything else... its that big a title.
MS showed Metro and AC and that Anthem.... so I think they'll beat MS in the multiplats. In terms of 1st/2nd party, MS showed what Forza, Crackdown and Sea of Thieves (the ones worth showing).... sony should show, Last of Us 2 (not convinced they'll show this), Spiderman, Dreams, Knack 2 (most wont care), Detroit, That zombie game, Uncharted, God of war... seriously they have so many to choose from....
The problem wasnt necessarily that MS showed multiplats, it was they didnt really show much else of quality to go along with it.

I doubt they change it too much, but if they had say 3 or 4 "megatons" to drop just in case, I would assume your only going to see 1, maybe 2 of those now. Unless they are all releasing very shortly, then PS would have no choice. Might as well save up those extra big announcements for another games show later on, to spread out the great news over time, and also to have a few backup's in case XB has a few tricks up their sleeves before launch.

PS5 - ^ -We must build a console that’s a generational cross product, with RT lighting, and price hiking.
PRO -&- We must build a console that Super Res upscales and continues the cost increases.
