Forums - Nintendo - Since MH3 is on the Wii...will MHF3 be on the DS?

Definitely not DS. Maybe the next portable Nintendo iteration.

If someone, who has played the game extensively, can answer me this, then Capcom could put the game on the DS:

How in the hell would it control? My point was ignored so I'm' stating it again. It uses all the buttons on the PSP, and if there was only one button missing, the game wouldn't work. And I can't think of any way for them to make the game work, even using the touch screen, unless the game was dumbed-down a lot.

Also, another question: Who in this thread has played the game? For at least three to five hours?

So as someone who has played monster hunter alot, tell me how Capcom decided to put the main series on the Wii instead of PS3? Wouldn't the same arguments that you state above hold??

I think he thinks it's OK For MH3 to be on the Wii because space isn't a problem. The Wii can hold almost 9 GBs. The DS can only hold, 512 MBs for the biggest cartridge. I sitll argued that they can ask Nintendo for a bigger cartridge, exclusively for Capcom if they decide to make MHF3 on the DS.

Read the part I have bolded in his quote. While the size might be an issue, (although I think it is not such a big one) he wrote about the control.

It's much easier to translate the playing experience from PS2 to Wii... than from PSP to DS.

Why?

Wii >PS2 list: Graphical power, online ability, ram, bigger storage.

THerefore, an imporvenment over PS2 version.

What does DS have over PSP that can successfully succeed the PSP previous game?

Wait, nevermind, you never played MH on PSP before. :P

"but I also think it can find much success (maybe even BIGGER success) on the DS"

uh no. 3D games are bad on the DS compared to the PSP. The only thing it would have going forward to it would be the bigger installed userbase. If you have a look at the DS games that sold better than MH you will find

Brain Training 1-15, lots of Mario titles, Pokemon 1-27 and Cooking Mama. So I do think Monster Hunter has a better place on the PSP.

"So as someone who has played monster hunter alot, tell me how Capcom decided to put the main series on the Wii instead of PS3? "

Monster Hunter is a almost 100% japanese game and the installed base Wii:PS3 is 5.7m:2m.

Besides PSP and Wii are so similar in the graphical power department that development will be easy. Add Zelda controls for shooting the bow et voila.

That's an invalid argument. You are saying that it is easier to make something harder (the PS2 to Wii transition) than to make something easier (the PSP to DS transition)

The Wii is more powerful than the PS2 so it must be harder to make a Wii game than a PS2 game. On the other hand the DS should be much easier to program for since it is so simple and weak.

And if the Wii version is a success the DS has DS-Wii integration that the PSP doesn't have.

And playing a MH game or not has nothing to do with having logic.

Same argument holds for DS vs PSP. Sorry you just proved my point.

@ gorgepir

Because the Wii actually has an analog stick, and enough buttons to make it work. I would suppose you'd move with the analog stick, control the camera with the D-Pad on the Wii-mote, you would use the 1 and 2 buttons to scroll through your items, and use C to activate them, Z to center the camera behind you, and A and B, and whatever motion controls are tacked on to attack, I suppose that how it could work, and that doesn't seem too hard.

With the DS, you can only use either the D-Pad and the Touch screen, or the touch screen and the Face buttons [or the D-pad and the face buttons], which would only mean that you would only be able to move, and you'd have no way to manipulate the camera, which would be EXTREMELY awkward.

What about the shoulder buttons?

If your argument is because of controls I find it to be pretty weak to be honest.

Now if you had said it already works on the PSP and they are making money out of it so why should they change the forumla, that would've been a valid (and true in my opinion) argument.

I love how people can argue about control scheme of a game that he/she NEVER even played before.

Frankly, I don't see a point to argue something that won't happen. Ever, Unless people are willing to bet it does. If that is the case, I'm more than happy to come up with a bet.
