Yeah, I have the OG Xbox too. There's numerous worthy games on it, and many of the multiplats performed better than the PS2 versions. They also had quite a bit Japanese games for it. |
Some Original Xbox games simply aged better than the PS2 versions as some were high-definition, widescreen and had full SM 1/1.1/1.2/1.3/1.4 pixel shader effects.
Backwards Compatability is awesome though. No doubt about it. And there are a ton of people who find it a usefull feature regardless of the platform you use.
Still. Microsoft needed to follow it up with *new* games to go with it. Some big, bold new I.P's that pushed Scorpio.

Unless of course the backwards compatability feature improves those older games.
Not everyone wishes to have a dozen consoles connected to their TV either for various and obvious practical reasons.

I keep my old consoles in working condition as best as I can. So I'd always like something new because the old will always be here with me.

New games obviously, but with Xbox One I'll have both and I'm loving it :)

BC can offer improved features, and you don't need to keep all of your old consoles and cables and games and controllers around. I always either give my old consoles away or donate them. I don't want to deal with the hassle of all those cords and old accessories. BC is just convenient.
I buy new consoles for new experiences nit to.relive the past.
Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

Yeah, like it's somehow one or the other |
Well if you look at Microsoft and Sony/Nintendo it kinda is.

Nostalgia is awesome.....
in small doses.
Old games can't be the main thing to play on a modern gen console because it would defeat the point of buying it. Might as well sell it. I buy new hardware to enjoy games that are new and have higher quality experiences that are more immersive than the gen before. There's a world of difference between playing a side scrolling space game and No Man's sky.

OG Xbox took multiplats from PC like Jade empire and Kotor. Those games are still functional on PC in a way that makes the investment in OG Xbox not seem worth it. The superior remaster of Ninja Gaiden is on the PS4 and not only that but even with Phantom Dust...many gamers are realizing how badly these games have aged.

Exactly. Microsoft is surviving right now on nostalgia that was set mostly by multiplatforms. They cannot sell nostalgia in the same way as Sega, Nintendo or Sony because of their lackluster investment in first party.
