Forums - Gaming - Time For MS To Back Nintendo And Let Them Run The XBox Line

Time for Microsoft to do something. ANYTHING! Seriously, I lost all hope by now. Those idiots bring new hardware without software. They must think hardware sells software. Newsflash, it's exactly the opposite and it has been that way since forever. Xbox is gonna be crushed in the holidays. No heavy hitters whatsoever and a new console nobody asked for for way too much cash. What are those dudes smoking? Seriously. Goddamn.

I'm sorry, but that is one of the dumbest ideas out there.

Nintendo as a brand is a far more valuable than Xbox as a brand, right off the bat.

And what would Nintendo gain by owning the Xbox brand? A few more loyal fans?

What MS exclusive franchises are there, that really would matter that much in the long run? Halo, Gears of War, Forza, Kinect nonsense. Getting Rare back, on paper, would be something, but consider it's a hollow shell of what Rare used to be, then not so much.

Nintendo already has franchises that are, quite frankly, considerably more popular and valuable in the long-term to Nintendo themselves: Mario, Zelda, Smash Bros., Mario Kart, Mario Party, Animal Crossing, Pokemon, Fire Emblem, Kirby, DK, Metroid, Paper Mario, etc. etc. etc.

There really is no way Nintendo would go along with that scenario, as they would have nothing to really gain, except theoretically Microsoft corporate backing, which they've done just fine without for decades. On the other hand, such a "merger" could very well do damage to the Nintendo brand.

So no. I think not. Especially with how well Switch has been selling thus far, while I'm still skeptical of the system and they need to show me more games I actually want to own for the thing before I ever buy one/ But I think that Nintendo is doing just fine on their own.

Sounds like MS is going to have a good show.

This was two days ago...

This is insane, I don't want Nintendo to run Xbox into the ground. Make it a flimsy gadget instead of a normal console.

But... Microsoft kicks Nintendo's ass for hardware as far as I'm concerned. It's the software they suck at...

Actually with the Xbox One S vs PS4 Slim and Xbox One X vs PS4 Pro

I would say they kicked sony their ass in the last 2 consoles also.
But in terms of software its still better for (most) people to purchase the PS4 models.

They have been on top hardware wise but if they want to compete they cannot not show new first party games they would need to expect their first party instead of merging with nintendo, which would be awesome for current xbox owners btw lol

Microsoft has become a complete failure at everything except Windows on the PC for obvious reasons (games and installed base), everything else consumer related is being shamefully managed (Xbox, Windows Mobile, etc), I wouldn't want to be associated with them at this point for any reason, and so does Nintendo...

PS4: Tryklon  Steam: Tryklon

Switch: 0307-6588-7010 | New 2DS XL: 2037-2612-6964

MacBook Air (Mid 2017) | iPhone SE | Apple Watch Series 3

Yeah because the Wii U took the world by storm and everbody loved it.

MS has yet to build a console that fails as bad as the Gamecube or the Wii U...

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

No. The philosophies followed by Microsoft and Nintendo are diametrically opposite.

Microsoft forms partnerships with third-parties because they want to expand their platform and have it grow well beyond "games". They want Xbox to be a beachhead into the multimedia center of each user. It's all about services and subscriptions. They want to be a digital Wal-mart for multimedia, particularly in the west, especially in lucrative markets.

Nintendo only grows their platform because it's a way to sell software. They resist new industry standards and are slow to transition to new technical advances. They only care about forming partnerships where they reap most of the benefits and only really pay attention to the Japanese market.

i have to say this is a great perspective that you spelled out. Nintendo would fuck up xbox tbh, grew up on it,love it,but nintendo is to stuck in there ways. Xbox One has sold 30 million units, yes less than the xbox 360,but 10 million more than the original xbox from 2001, in my eyes the xbox one is a success, ive had them all wiiu,ps4,and xbox one, and i have to say the xbox one is my favorite of them all because of its bonus features ,its a multi-media center BEAST LOL. So people in this forum and everywhere dissing the xbox one i just dont get it tbh, its a pretty good console, and if anyone needs saving its nintendo LMAO.Luckily the switch is doing well because they need it,sure they are still living off Wii money from 2006 but that will run out eventually after that Flop we call WiiU.

Microsoft will do well during the holidays thanks to the mid gen refresh console, but after November and December......all bets are off.

Compete? Xbox is making money and so is PS. What exactly is your point? Xbox should just quit because they cant be the best selling even if there making money?
This competition logic is strange.
