I'm sad :(
Was really hoping for this years release. But I guess they need to fill in a void for next year.

Wouldn't piss me off, I'm be pleasently surprised! It's a huge open world RPG. They all get delayed. It's expected but not hoped for.

Site is stupid. Double post.

Nintendo better have something other than SMO for the holidays. If Switch is going to stay relevant it needs a new game every 2-3 months. So far BotW, Puyo Puyo, Disgaea 5, and MK8D have kept it going. Arms was a bit of a wash, but Splatoon 2 will fix that. They need SMO for August/October and something else for the end of the year. Maybe Monster Hunter XX will come to the states in time. Right?
I love Nintendo but if the Switch ever gets a six month drought I will be severely disappointed. What really scares me here is that with a possible XC2 delay, and nothing announced for 2018 Switch could have a drought from Feb 2018 to August 2018.

With Red dead redemption 2.

Well, with Xenoblade 2 almost everyone was saying it right as it was announced.
Never believed it would come out in 2017 anyway, so it being delayed to ONLY Feb 2018 is awesome.
Also would be smart and better to do this anyway. The Switch does not need Xenoblade 2 at all this holiday. Hell it hardly needs Super Mario Odyssey to keep up sales, but it will have it. But dropping a great game like Xenoblade in February is a smarter move for Nintendo than dropping it during the Holiday.

What he said. Publishers are getting smarter about avoiding the fall release overload and having their games lost in the shuffle. It makes more sense for this game to come out at a time of year where it can get more of the spotlight. Not only would people still be high on Spla2n, but it would be competing with Mario on its own console, and major AAA games on others. This isn't the Wii U days, where we got tossed a bone twice a year. There's plenty to play over the course of a few more months.
This smells just like the DKCTF delay. Hopefully this time they're doing it because the Switch is so successful they can afford to spread their releases more, and not because there's a huge drought they're trying to make a lil smaller.

ARMS isn't out yet and it'll most certainly be a bigger seller than Puyo Puyo n Disgaea 5. SMO has been set for Holidays since it's reveal, whereas August/September/October will probably have Mario Rabbids/Pokken(already confirmed)/Fire Emblem Warriors. In just a few days we'll probably see some 2018 announcements so atleast wait until after E3 before doomin and gloomin.
Given what little we actually saw of the game this should come as a surprise to no one. As nice as running around in those enviroments looked, they were more or less lifeless and given the success of BotW, I am sure they are looking to implement a much lively and interactive world compared to their past games.
Also with Mario and Fire Emblem Warriors dropping this winter and hopefully some other strong third party games with RPG elements like Skyrim, probably Monster Hunter XX or maybe sort of Kingdom Battle, there is no need for Xenoblade 2 to have to be rushed out for this holiday. Heck, for NA I would be surprised if we see this game before May 2018 at earliest.
