i could say the same thing about the N64 how it makes everything blury |
That's because the N64 has system-enabled anti-aliasing.

that ruins the picture quality
| Ruler said: I am surprised how many people vote N64 here, it had 400 games of which 40% were sport and racing games. Even the western Saturn library is better. |
N64 may not have a big library, but it has some of the best games of all time: Super Mario 64, Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask. Other notable games were Super Smash Bros (begin of a great franchise), Goldeneye 007, Mario Kart 64, Donkey Kong 64, Star Fox 64 and Perfect Dark.

I made the statement as a matter-of-fact, not really trying to put my input. However, graphics aren't really what I'm worried about when I play 5th gen games, as long as I know what's going on, it's fine by me!

Have you played games like Dragonforce, Keio 2, Gungriffon, Enemy Zero, Galactic Attack, Dark Savior or Guardian Heroes on the Saturn?

Fair enough. But no, PS1 beats N64 at Gamerankings right from rank 3. The gap only grows from there. http://www.gamerankings.com/browse.html?site=ps&numrev=4 http://www.gamerankings.com/browse.html?site=n64&numrev=4 25 games on PS1 scoring 90 and above, as opposed to 10 games on N64. Playstation 1 also has plenty of underrated gems like Suikoden 2 scoring only 80 which is extremely misleading because that game is now considered one of all time's best JRPGs by those who played it. It's arguably better regarded than Chrono Cross (92 Gamrankings/94 meta) and certainly is more loved than bloody GTAIV which I still can't fathom how it managed to score as high as it did.. |
The "PS1 only had quantity not quality" rationalization people are trying to use really just sounds ignorant. The PS1 had both.
Also, what is with the silly "if you don't count JRPGs" thing I've been seeing? What does that even mean? Are we also disallowing platformers for the N64?
As far as great games with low review scores go, you also have Final Fantast Tactics at 82, which many people now consider one of their favorite games of all time.

Tactics and Suikoden II are two of the most underrated games I've ever played.
Playstation is the better system overall, but N64 would've been better had Nintendo not used cartridges. Nintendo and Rare were the best developers of that gen.
