Gaming - N64 or PS1? - View Post

When did I say blast Corps as the best game on the 64. In fact I hardly ever hear anyone talk about it anymore.

In fact there are many games "better" than blast Corps on the 64. Mario 64, oot, goldeneye, wave race and many more. I was just saying that it was a game I really enjoyed.

But as you said games are subjective. What 1 person enjoys another thinks is rubbish. One thinks Sony is the best console maker.  Others Nintendo. Others Microsoft.

Therefore when I say "you" I meant me. I think if you went and got gamerankings for the top 10 games on each console(n64 and ps1)   I think the 64 would win. But again it's how people feel and people will generally sit on 1 side or the other.

Fair enough. But no, PS1 beats N64 at Gamerankings right from rank 3. The gap only grows from there.

25 games on PS1 scoring 90 and above, as opposed to 10 games on N64.

Playstation 1 also has plenty of underrated gems like Suikoden 2 scoring only 80 which is extremely misleading because that game is now considered one of all time's best JRPGs by those who played it. It's arguably better regarded than Chrono Cross (92 Gamrankings/94 meta) and certainly is more loved than bloody GTAIV which I still can't fathom how it managed to score as high as it did..

The "PS1 only had quantity not quality" rationalization people are trying to use really just sounds ignorant.  The PS1 had both.

Also, what is with the silly "if you don't count JRPGs" thing I've been seeing?  What does that even mean?  Are we also disallowing platformers for the N64?

As far as great games with low review scores go, you also have Final Fantast Tactics at 82, which many people now consider one of their favorite games of all time.
