Yes, western reviewers basically hate everything from Japan.

BTW, most gave it an 8, which means very good. Why would you give something a very good if you want to hurt it? Nobody would've been surprised if it got 70 or even 60 on Meta.

SFV got 77, 82 is lousy in comparison, yes everyone exepted high score from these particular western reviewers. Western reviewers have western mindset, no Japanese reviews allowed in Metacritic.

Do you know what the highest rated games of the year on Metacritic are? Hint: they're Japanese.

That's good news. It sounds like it's gonna be light on content, which is a shame. Fighting developers (aside from netherrealms) seem to be complacent rushing out their titles.

Are you joking?

why would I? Based on games like Killer Instinct and SFV, where the game comes out with tiny rosters (6 in KI's case) and SFV missing many modes on day 1, fighting games seem to be offering less and less. Some of the reviews mention tekken 7 feeling rush but I have to read it all in detail after work before I blast the game.

EDIT: I was under the impression that tekken 7 on consoles was releasing with only 20 characters, but that's the arcade version.

This just gave me the idea to petition Opencritic to allowing Japanese reviewers. They're likely to do it too.

On Topic: I've never played Tekken. I tried the 3D fighter genre with DOA3 back in the day and didn't like it. Too many moves, and angles of attack compared to 2D fighters. My roommate is getting this though, so I'll give it a shot.

As soon as more folks have their hands on the game, the score will go up a bit. I know reviewers get the early copies, but everyone hasn't reviewed the game yet. I'm thinking this will end up being around 86 when it's all said and done.

add me already!!!! aikohualda

i wanna challenge you :P too bad my gal anna is not out yet :(

You said it sounds like. Not "I presume". What made it sound like Tekken 7 will be light on content?

You mean comments like this from Harada in regards to why they delayed the release of the game?

"But in the end we came to the decision that [after] seeing releases from other companies, as well as some of the past of our own, where maybe things weren't working 100% at launch, or maybe it was missing some content, that's the kind of thing we wanted to avoid with Tekken 7."

Or this features trailer?

But yeah, Tekken 7 releases with 36 + 1 characters. They'll add more classic characters for free down the line, and two guest characters from other games as paid DLC.

Yeah the roster seems fairly full, although with some odd omissions like Lei. Don't look too much into it, it's just some of the conclusions i saw from reviews, I still have to actually read the reviews to see where the content is lacking and if it actually IS lacking.

Tekken used to be a solid 90%+ game series with higher sales during the 1990s. Button mashing seems to work effectively to win in fighter games like Tekken. The gamer with the fastest reflexes and mashes the buttons faster wins most games. There is no skill in Tekken.

Button mashing works in any game where your opponent doesn't know how to play.  Spoken like someone who truely doesn't understand punishment, and position.  The only fighting game harder than Tekken is Virtua Fighter.  Like, seriously, who loses to button mashers.

tekken is really easy to pick up... but hard to master...
