Forums - Nintendo - New Fire Emblem Warriors Info Surfaces from Latest Famitsu

New details on the upcoming Fire Emblem Warriors game surfaces in the latest upcoming issue of Famitsu.

It reveals new twin protagonists, Shion and Lian, as well as Marth confirmed as a playable character. There is other info on the game, such as the weapons triangle, class changing, and being able to switch among party members in-game. Apparently the roster will focus on Shadow Dragon, Awakening and Fates.

Here are some highlights from an interview from the developers:

  • The game’s development started prior to Famitsu’s Musou collaboration survey.

  • The first thing that was decided on was to “make a Musou that is fun for Fire Emblem fans.”

  • Fire Emblem’s basic elements such as the weapon triangle, strategic elements, and unit classes will be in the game.

  • It’ll be fully-voiced and have plenty of lines from all the characters. Intelligent Systems is supervising for character settings and such.

  • Characters appearing will mostly be from Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon, Fire Emblem Awakening, and Fire Emblem Fates. It won’t be the kind of game where all the main characters from the entire series get together.

  • The reason for this is because if you put a bunch of protagonists together then it’ll be nothing but sword-wielding characters.

  • Since there’s an element to the game that involves switching around characters, they hope to have you play with all kinds of weapons and classes.

  • The number of participating characters ended up being the most of any other Musou collaboration title’s first entry.

  • You’ll get to play as archers and magic-type characters.

  • While more information about the world setting can’t be shared for now, they say that it’ll go something along the lines of being called forth by a “Shield of Fire” in this world and going beyond space and time.

  • There will be elements that will for example make your Archer do extra damage while attacking a Pegasus Knight.

  • Cavaliers and other horse-mounted units will always fight on a mount. They’re designing such classes to keep their high-mobility appeal.

  • As for support conversations, there will be something similar called the “Bond Conversation.” They already have an enormous amount of text prepared for the game, which will feature conversations ranging from serious to silly.

  • There won’t be a marriage system. Think of it as characters just becoming friends, as there won’t be any romantic developments.

This is all the new info revealed so far. Personally, I'll be disappointed if they really only focus on those 3 games, as I'd hope to see characters like Ike in the game, but maybe they'll make it...? Also, the main guy looks like a poor super saiyan Goku. I find the reason for not using all the main characters in the series to be just dumb. Not all the characters are sword users, and you can just pick other types of units as well from every game...

Any thoughts on this game so far? I'm feeling a little deflated from some of it, but I'll still likely get it.

Looks good so far, still very much looking forward to that. Regarding Ike, they could easily offer any popular character via dlc.

Edit: Also, this mentioned Famitsu Musou survey took place in late 2015. That means they are already working two years on this game. I think that's interesting, though it doesn't mean anything.

Don't worry, they'll make you pay for the characters you really want most likely

Wish they would tone down the boner they have for Awakening, like not even Blazing Sword? that was decently popular in the west. Even if they add characters from other games to the base roster, the ratio will be very low compared to Awakening and Shadow Dragon, even Fates.

“make a Musou that is fun for Fire Emblem fans.” Pre Awakening fans don't count tho and the first game because is the first game, can't get around excluding that one.

Getting some other fan favorites via an alternative like dlc would be a way to do it, but I'd hope I wouldn't have to pay extra to do so...

Yeah, I will definitely not pay extra for some characters, that's for sure, but chances are high they will do this since they probably have made some good experience with Hyrule Warriors.

Woo hooo. Take my money bois...

I feel the same. Sure, Awakening and Fates may have revived the series, but there's more to it than just those 2, and not everyone knows or cares about the 1st game, grumble...

I can definitely see that happening, sadly (paying for more characters via dlc that is...)

Expecting DLC packs adding 3-5 characters from each other game/setting.

Lame but expected, concerning the roster anyway. Awakening is too popular, and Shadow Dragon is the OG title. Nice to hear about Fates, but I wonder how many characters will actually appear from there. They should have included some Gaiden characters as well given the recent remake.

Guess my dream of mowing down enemies with Ike, Zelgius, and the Laguz Kings remains unrealized for now.
