Forums - Sony - Naughty Dog: “Very, Very Impressed” with Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy

Everyone’s favorite bandicoot, Crash, will return soon with the N. Sane Trilogy remake. Developed by Vicarious Visions and scheduled for a launch on Sony’s PlayStation 4 on June 30th, N. Sane Trilogy is a collection of remakes of the first three titles in the franchise: Crash Bandicoot, Cortex Strikes back and Warped.

As you probably recall if you’ve played the original games, they were developed by Naughty Dog at the time. Speaking with Metro GameCentral, Producer Kara Massie revealed that the team got “overwhelmingly positive” feedback from Naughty Dog on Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy.

"Personally, our dev team didn’t check in with them or anything. But through Sony, Naughty Dog has seen and played the games at a few different stages. And we’ve had feedback from them, and overwhelming it’s been positive. They’re very, very impressed, and quite touched, that we’re doing right by their original games."

Admittedly, the gameplay videos released so far are quite impressive, especially when you consider that Vicarious Visions (which is also working on Destiny 2, though with a separate team) had to basically reverse engineer most of the code since it was in an unusable file format. However, they did have access to “geo data” that helped them rebuild the layouts of the original maps.

Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy will feature remastered audio and 4K resolution support on PlayStation 4 Pro. Vicarious Visions also added unified checkpoints, the ability to save manually, and time trials (originally only available in Warped, the third game).

There have been several rumors of the game launching on platforms other than PlayStation 4 in the future. The last one from a couple weeks ago showcased a Best Buy advertisement where the N. Sane Trilogy was clearly labeled as a one year PlayStation 4 exclusive – if that were true, the game could launch on PC, Xbox One or Nintendo Switch in June 2018.

It’s unlikely that we’ll get any news about this at E3 2017. For now, you’ll need a PS4 to play as Crash once again.

3 platinums yo!

100%'ing the first one is going to be a nightmare, especially with the addition of time trials.

Yeah, but how many of the people currently in Naughty Dog were even there during the Crash games? Because it's those people that it would make sense to get feedback from.

This is going to be so much fun to get all 3 platinums!
Imagine a trophy where you have to get all Platinum Relics in the game, that could be very hard. lol

I bet the original composer and sound designer isn't as happy.
