i dont think any GTA game (with the exception of 3) has made people awe at the graphics. GTA games are big, very big, with a lot of freedom (GTA:SA) and that's what a lot of people like about them.

The size of the GTA environments alone make a comparison to a game like Uncharted or Gears of War impossible.

And that's not even mentioning budgetary restraints and developmental time restrictions.

Personally, I think the game looks pretty damned good for what it is. Definitely a step up from GTAIII compared to the other PS2 games releasing at the time.

From the look of the gameplay they seem to have focused the graphics on the enviorments and cars and such but not on the character models.

Yeah focus on the little things is what I say. Character models have looked pretty damn good for a while now. Gimme little things like shit blowing up proper or better physics and AI etc. More missions, more cars, more everything as long as it looks like it is supposed to I am cool.

Character models might be "meh" but have you looked at a PS2 GTA game? Character models were never that great anyway.

This isn't a normal game where there's a few character models to deal with at once...it's an open world game where there's a lot more things going on at once, thus taking a hit for more specific character models. I'd say it looks pretty good, and I don't even care, because it's the vehicle models that matter more to me...and I'm sure those will be just fine.

i kind of agree with leo if it was blu ray the graphics would of been amazing.

but i dont care the other gta games we very good despite having avg graphics

Would you rather have better graphics and choppy, horrible framerates?

Having said this, Saints Row and Crackdown did VERY well.
