Japan is by far bigger than those 3 countries individually. Its more like the 3 countries combined.

Hate to say it but Nintendo has screwed up with supply again.
Japan should be getting a steady 40k/week, the Switch needs at least that base line there, being in the 20s is not good and even the 30s is underwhelming, you want a baseline in 40s at least.
It should not be that big of a problem to get
80k for North America
60k for Europe
40k for Japan
Weekly. 22-29k is bullshit especially since units are easier to get to Japan.

While true overall, for home consoles the UK is comparable to Japan now. We love us a good cuppa and some kicking of the ol' virtual ball.

Indeed. Just about to have a cup myself! As for kicking the virtual ball, does Mario Sports Superstars count? As for the Japan Vs. U.K. market, afaik Japan is still slightly bigger. Hard to tell with Switch tho. Severely supply constrained/sold out in both territories.

Well there could be more behind the scenes that doesnt meet the eye. It all just points to nintendo being overly conservative since what happen with wiiu.
If it wasnt such a problem they be doing just that. You cant just flip the SWITCH and production will automatically double. Nintendo probably gave out there stock in advance and it finally caught up

I mean, Nintendo already did flip a switch and stated they were doubling production.

If Japan is really like all 3 combined then people really have to stop being negative about gaming sales in Japan.
It's unrealistic to expect it to do the same numbers of old when it's got an ageing population, an economy in slump and a lifestyle culture that suits handheld and mobile gaming more.
MK to soon pass Zelda. Which is a shame, that people prefer the remaster over a new game. But MK brand too strong compared to Zelda in Japan.

It's not really though. If you look at population:
Germany is 81m+
France is 66m+
UK is 65m+
for a total of 212m+
Japan has a total of 121m+
Sizewise japan has is about as big as germany so it's a denser more homogenus market, but any two out of the big three EU markets together are bigger than japan. That is mostly reflected in the numbers as well nowadays. Japan used to be videogame fairytale land though.

No one's asking for double the production. 40k/week in Japan is not terribly hard to make nor does it require double the production.
At least produce 85% of the 3DS volume for its first year. This isn't good enough, if their "plan" is to stay in the 20ks in Japan until ARMS or Splatoon 2 launch, it's a dumb plan.
Asking for 750k/month isn't asking for a lot, they should be able to make 750k units/month.
