Console units sold

NES       60 million
SNES       50 million
N64        32 million
Cube       21 million
Wii         100 million (it should do this, if not more)

Nitty has been losing market shares since the N64.

Then they come out with the Wii (Cube 1.5) and the market shares
will go up by 500%. Was it the low price of the Wii vs the high
price of the PS3 or going after the Casual market ?

Consoles LTD, end 2009, end 2010 - prediction

Wii - 68 million, 90 million - Wii HD in late 2011 - $249

360 - 38 million, 47 million - 720 in late 2010 - $299

PS3 - 31 million, 43 million - slim PS3 in mid 2009 - $299

Nintendo pulled a rabbit out of the hat. Most analysts never expected the Wii would do this well they were all wrong.

If that was true, the gamecube would have sold more.

They released a console that captured the imagination of millions of people.

I am a Wii owner and love it !!!!

But the Wii has the same CPU and GPU as the Cube, just faster.
I guess Wii Sports and the motion controller did it. Word of mouth about
bowling and tennis got the casual buyer.

That is incorrect. The cpus/gpus are similar, but not the same.
