The motion control of the Nintendo Wii is good, being innovative with motion control. But it does not appeal to me I prefer the controllers the other two consoles offer on the market.

I think it was the way in which Nintendo implemented and marketed the Wii that helped it become a success (eg. Wiisports). It is also quite possible that there was still too much of a "young males only" stigma attached to gaming when the Gamecube hit six or seven years back.
Perhaps it would have been more successful with motion control, perhaps not. But I certainly think there is more to it then just tacking on motion controls at any point in history and sitting back and watching the cash roll in.

Once again, I feel like motion control was just one aspect of the marketing genius Nintendo launched the Wii with. They could have gone 1-to-1 motion control, but then that would have debunked their "easy-to-access" claim. Also, the price was a key point in attracting casual gamers to the console over its HD rivals.

Excellent write up.
But I think there should be another category: Momentum.
And right now, Sony has it.
They've turned a profit in their game division, finally [though it was off the backs of the PSP/2], and they've kept the pricing the same, and look to keep it that way for some time, keeping them profitable. With them having, arguably, the biggest game of this summer, it looks like they'll have a good summer with MGS4, completely unrivaled in hype and delivery [as previews are saying], and the YOY growth for the system is amazing. And we all know momentum is very important. Look at the 360, it's slowing down, and almost grinding to a halt. The lowest selling console every week, beaten even by PSP.
That was a very well done artcile. Nintendo is certianly doing alright. I reckon they will win in sales, market share and profit.
