Forums - Gaming - PC is the most profitable platform for Activision in the first quarter of 2017

With Destiny 2 also hitting PC and revenue from blizzard games not slowing down in combination with the fact PC hardware is just getting cheaper and cheaper for better value, this trend will surely continue.

Also PC is lead in digital sales so more revenue back to the developer ánd blizzard has their own sales platform on PC and they don't need to give a revenue share to origin, steam, psn or xbox live, which is huge

In my ancient world, this is more "Activision vs Blizzard" than "console vs PC".

I can't wait for Warcraft 4 btw...

Imagine not having GamePass on your console...

This is probably all down to Blizzard.

Overwatch and Hearthstone are doing incredibly well, and despite falling from it's huge highs, World of Warcraft still brings in good cash.

I am beyond hyped for it. Not enough good RTS games lately. Total War is about the only one bringing it consistently.

Exactly. Blizzard is their own Publisher/Developer. Whatever sales they make, they tend to keep the bulk of the money. They use their own store.

A developer like Crytek usually pays a publisher like Electronic Arts a good 30% or more of the revenue... Then they have to pay another 30% or more to Steam, Xbox, Playstation etc'.

So even if a Blizzard game is only mildly successfull like StarCraft 2 with 5 million~ copies, it's going to be extremely profitable for Blizzard. Probably more profitable than a game that sells 7.5 million on a console, distributed by a publisher.
