Forums - Nintendo - Will 3DS outsell the GBA?

Will it?

I'm unsure.

On the one hand, Nintendo seem determined to keep it on life support as long as possible and milk it until its teats fall off.

On the other, its selling less than Xbox One on a weekly basis now, and has been pointed out already, it sold less than 15 million in FY 2015 + 2016, and Nintendo forecast this financial year to be its lowest yet at 6 million.

If this forecast proves to be accurate, then to beat GBA it would need to sell more than 9 million from March 2018 onwards, which is a tall order.

Btw, does VGChartz have a way to compare weekly sales between different years?

I do but I am very forgetful so if this has already been stated multiple times I apologize.

I did, but not sure what it has to do with what you bolded, that 3DS is selling less than Xbox One on a weekly basis. (And has been for the past four months)

Unless you're claiming it's supply constrained and would otherwise be ahead?

That if 3DS wasn't scarce as of mid April  at least , that wouldn't happen, they would have equal sales...

We can't know that for sure, we can only theorize. What we can ascertain, at least if VGC is accurate, is that Xbox One has sold more every week since the one ending 7th of Jan. Which is perfectly normal; 3DS is 6 years old and Xbox One only 3.
