How did you managed to do that? Have you arrived earlier or something? For me is being a pain in the ass trying to find a Switch in a physical store.

Some post here (and on Twitter) last wednesday suggested that big retailers had received shipments of Switches for the release of MK8DX. I tried to test my luck on friday, the same day that MK8DX was out I think I just got lucky to find one then.

Luck is not in my favour these days, I will have another chance to get one in the next 3 months, I just hope things stabilize for that time.

Actually, they decided that bc they realized how beneficial is for the company to go full 3rd Party. A win-win situation!

Are they really going third party, on PS4 and XOne? Well, that's bad news. :'(

I wanted them to go full mobile.

PS4, X1, PC, mobile and everything that connects on a display or has already one built-in. Calculator with BotW? Why not?! The sky is the limit

Lol love how the US has these constant stock issues while us Aussies have had them in stock since day 1

Thanks for the info and thank you Nintendo for finally remove region locking

I see them in local stores but then they're gone a day later.

Of course, what kind of question is that:

Still really hard to find, and with MK8 Deluxe, I don't see the issue getting better till near the end of May to be honest :/

Haha right! But luckily I was able to get a neon one at that time.

Pocky Lover Boy!

And people wonder why they discontinued the NES classic with no notice.
Nintendo execs: " hmmm we're selling out of $60 consoles that we made sure had no ability to sell games for, and $300 consoles that have $60 games with MORE THAN 100% ATTACH RATE. Which one should we put all our production power into guys?"

Hey folks. So, it's the last day of April, and for the past couple of weeks or so, I've been going to Nintendo's website, where they have links to six retailers (Amazon, BestBuy, GameStop, Target, WalMart and ToysRUs) to buy the Switch. Whenever I check the links, the Swtch is either sold out both online and at local stores (I live in New England, US), or in the cases of Amazon and, bizzarely, Walmart, being sold at scalper prices. I was wondering if anyone knew if these retailers actually are getting more Switches in stock and they're just being sold out before I could see them in stock, or if Nintendo is having trouble shipping more Switches?

I'm not really looking into buying a Switch right now; I may still wait a few months. But I wanted to get a sense if there is any replenishing going on, or if it's just a long delay.

the replenishing is likely to occur more IN STORE than it is online. The reason being that retailers would prefer it that way (obviously like Target's, Walmarts, Best Buy, etc.), because it means getting consumers into their stores and potentially to buy things they might not otherwise (cough accessories and extra games)

so the odds of finding them regularly online will probably be worse than in person. I have a strong feeling the restocks are occuring more regularly at storefronts than online. There are also probably more people CHECKING the online stores because its far less effort than driving and walking into a store.

so just a heads up, you'll probably want to call your local electronics or general store and try to get a guesstimation of what days they get stock of things in and just go check whatever mornings that might be

Now's an awkward time though with Mario Kart just releasing. I'm sure there will be much more readily available stock at stores (online or otherwise) later in the summer

I mentioned this at one point. The NES Classic, although fairly small, in its packaging is probably the size of like 10 Switch games (or 3DS games for that matter). IN terms of retail shelf space it (and probably manufacturing/shipping) its probably a lot more logical to focus on shipping things that cost a lot less to move and that retailers can store in mass easier. when a shelf at a store can hold 100 Switch games or 10 NES classics... all at $60 a pop... you do the math. The NES Classic seems more like a logical seasonal thing when retailers want as much stuff as they can get

There are like 600 Switch consoles being sold on Amazon right now.

Scalpers are probably camping websites, making it almost impossible for ordinary people to find one that way.

I think scalping is not as common for something like the Switch like some of you suggest. If someone on Amazon is selling a Switch at $400 they're still going to have to pay some sort of fee for their packaging materials, like 15% directly to Amazon (fees), etc. So are you guys seriously suggesting that scalpers are dying at the chance to (probably) end up making like $50 or less on a Switch? I highly doubt it.

Hell, at times they could make that much on an Amiibo or limited edition game at the cost of like $15. It just doesn't make sense.

Also logically 600 Switches on a site like Amazon from third parties or individuals is really not THAT many. If it just sold a couple million system in March (or a million in the US), like 500 on Amazon is not really that much and a good portion could easily just be people who changed their mind after using it a bit or it collecting dust.

Now don't get me wrong- some weirdos definitely probably have heard "oh, the Switch is selling well" and bought one just in case they could somehow magically get a lot more for it. But I think its quite obvious at this point that Switch's aren't going for a huge amount over their retail price (like $100?) so I just don't buy that scalping is what is causing this issue. If it were the holidays that might totally be the case, because around the holidays scalping would work at a lot higher rate for something like this when people get desperate to get a gift for the kid (i.e. Turboman anyone?)

I honestly think there just is plenty of consumer demand for this, simple as that. Its not too surprising considering (in a way) its like potentially the gamers who might buy a Nintendo handheld at launch OR a Nintendo home console at launch OR new people all might be interested in picking this up.

now something like the NES Classic? that got scalped to hell and back. But even when it first came out that was a scenario where someone might buy it for $60 and sell it for over $100. The Switch is nothing like that. Just a lot of regular people interested in picking it up I think
