Now is not a very good time to use that argument, since Microsoft has made money in their Entertainment division for two straight quarters.
Granted, they're still in the red in terms of total figures, but Microsoft didn't enter the console business while thinking they'd make easy money (only someone dumb would think that, since there are a lot of buried bodies in the cemetery of failed consoles).
Nope, now more than ever is when Microsoft should stay in the business - they're making money and they're fending off Sony's attempts to dominate the media center business and customers' living rooms.

What COULD get Nintendo killed? And if it wouldn't ever get killed, when would it become the longest existing company ever?
Don't think Nintendo will have a loss for a long time, and they probably haven't lost money since before the Famicom.
I agree with Ajax, the gameboy has always been succesful, and a money machine, even more so than the wii, they always played it safe with the gameboy and were always market leader
Listen to the voice of reason, then do as I say.

Celine is very close. It was a $189 million loss in Q2 2003 and it was due to a very poor exchange rate between the Yen and Dollar.
"Although, because of the trend of yen appreciation, foreign exchange loss was ¥22.6 billion ($189 million)."

Ultimately, the source can only be the companies' financial reports, as that's the place to find those figures. For Nintendo, it's the profit of whole company, for the other two, it's the profit/loss of their gaming divisions (although Microsoft's entertainment division also includes the Zune and other stuff).
You can find those reports by searching for "X investor relations" on google, where X is the name of the company.

Well, I mean, this chart must have came from somewhere? I'm asking who compiled this and where did they get the figures form.
Just go to the companies and download their financial reports, that's where the numbers come from.
