You're not a hardcore gamer if you don't buy a Switch just for Zelda. All the rest is gravy.

Well if you look at all the games. Well Nintendo does not have that many switch games coming out that aren't just a port or remastered version. Yes it good that games no matter what they are are coming out for the switch. But when games like Grand theift auto, Call of Duty, Battlefield, Madden, and MLB not on your console but on the other three. What makes someone as a hardcore gamer want to buy a switch. Nintendo better have something up there sleeve come E3 time or else I got a bad feeling for Nintendo and the switch |
Wouldn't a hard core gamer buy a switch because there hard-core therefore surely a die hard gamer would want access to all console available and even a chunk of classic consoles aswell? I think what you mean to ask is how to Nintendo cater towards the CASUALS ie the ones who just buy COD,FIFA,GTA and Minecraft, and what ever else is Mainstream and popular at any giving time.
This is the reason why Pokemon is so popular because it's such a mainstream casual game
Is not this the same thread that we get everyday since forever?
Well, hopefully around E3 they'll announce a lot more games to make the line-up more appealing.

I mean, granted, what they have right now, and even have ANNOUNCED as of right now, is kinda sparse. I will fully admit that part of the reason I am waiting till at LEAST this coming holiday season to get a Switch, is because nothing has wowwed me. I got Zelda on Wii U, and while the Mario game could be cool, there's nothing that makes me feel like a I NEED a Switch yet.
However, for one thing, Retro Studios has been working on something since late 2013 at the very least. I don't expect it to come out this year, maybe, but at the same time, it's been in development for years, originally as a Wii U title. Whatever it is, it HAS to be ready fairly soon, and will hopefully be something people (myself included) will be really excited for. And I'm certain there are other games Nintendo is developing in-house that they haven't told us about yet (Such as the rumored "Pokemon Star" or whatever).
Though I will reiterate a point I have shared many times already: that being, that if Nintendo REALLY wants Switch to be a long-term success, and to avoid the kinds of software droughts Wii U constantly suffered from, while it IS imperative that they get steady and solid 3rd party support again (something even N64 enjoyed by comparison to Wii U), they NEED to phase out the 3DS, and have ALL of their internal dev teams making content for Switch. If they would actually treat Switch like the "hybrid" console it's supposed to be, acting as both their portable and home system, and put ALL of their resources and effort into making games for just that ONE platform, there would be no serious droughts from now on.
So I think that honestly has got to be a top priority for them moving forward, in 2018 and beyond.
Pokemon will eventually release on Switch and that day you and everyone will buy it.

This is probably the most discussed aspect of the Switch in here, so I disagree. Also; 3rd parties are not what make or break Nintendo consoles, even the Wii had shit 3rd party support and got almost none of the huge AAA franchises. They're not aiming primarily at the "hardcore" crowd, the Switch isn't built to compete directly with Xbox and PS, so these games won't matter much in the long run.
Whether or not the actual demographics they're aiming for will pay off in the long run is another question though, and a lot more interesting and important at that.

So, I shouldn't buy my Switch in anticipation of Fire emblem Warriors, Fire Emblem 2018, Super Mario Odyssey, Splatoon 2 or Xenoblade Chronicles 2 ?!! Damn, that sucks ... |
No, somebody could be needing one right now to play Zelda. How dare you keep it back from him/her in anticipation of not yet released software. Wait you turn!
Looking at 3DS, I would say it's not a problem as Nintendo can do fine without AAA multiplats.

And DS, and GBA
