The potential. You are probably clouded by the fact that you think most people just care about whats in front of them, when the truth is that people are loyal to products that provide them with the certainty of fun for many years ahead.

What potential? The overall 2017 line up is embarassing. Every Switch owner will end up with the same few games (full-priced port MK8, Splatoon 2, Mario Odyssey). There's no variety for different types of gamers. I'm a big Nintendo fan myself but I see absolutely no reason to buy it now.

I think the hype around the concept of Switch is what made many people buy the system so early without looking at the software line-up. They are destined to be disappointed when they realize the droughts take months with a few indie-games in between which are cheaper and with better performance on the other home-consoles.

I know it's been said countless times, but wait until E3 to talk about the overall line-up. It's pretty much guaranteed that they are going to talk about multiple games, since they don't have a big title set for August through December (minus one month for Mario odyssey).

Whats the 'adventure super' genre?

I googled it. But I can't understand.

Thanks anyways! ;D

I think you should read that as 'adventure' super-genre. So everything remotely adventurous, or something. :-|

Oh. OH. Well,  I feel stupid now. That missing hyphen really tripped me up. XD

Thanks for clarifying!

Yeah, the Switch will only get 3 Nintendo games and a few indies this whole year. Sounds about right. And Splatoon, Mario Kart and Odyssey are also the same genre. No variety there.

Bet with bluedawgs: I say Switch will outsell PS4 in 2018, he says PS4 will outsell Switch. He's now permabanned, but the bet will remain in my sig.

so as a switch owner, according to you, im not allowed Skyrim, or xeno 2, or yooka laylee, or snake pass, or lego city, or 1/2 switch amongst any other game that gets released. ok makes sense.

I'm not saying you're not allowed to. Just that a lot of Switch owners will have the same games by the end of 2017 because there's no variety and this will decrease sales dramatically when the hybrid-console hype is gone. There will be massive droughts. I expect (much) more from a console, even in its first year. Wii U had a much better first year line up but somehow managed to sell way less.

I just don't see why you bought a Switch for these games. You can get a better (performance-wise) and cheaper experience on any other gaming machine. Skyrim is not even the Definitive Edition and probably fullpriced. 1-2 Switch is terrible and full priced. Xenoblade 2 and Mario will be good, but not let's-buy-a-320-euro-console-for-2-good-games-in-a-whole-year good.

I will wait 2-3 years when lots of Nintendo games are released and bundled with the console at lower price, when the third-party support is once again beyond terrible.

That's a very nice start for the system no doubt. Still won't get it myself until at least a year from now, probably even later. Just don't see any reason to get one based on potential alone, but Nintendo doing well on the console market is always a good thing.

PS4 had the biggest hardware launch month.

Seems odd the article didnt mention that. Its kinda important. Also Switch and playstayion beat xbox in US? sweet.

Not necessarily.

You may be happy with one good game per genre per console, but those games are not for everyone. Shooter fans do not like all other games in the same genre. Splatoon 1,5 and Mario games are pretty much meant for the Nintendo gamer only.

My point being, in 1 or 2 years, you will find the exact same games at every Switch owner's house. While you will find a big variety of games at PS4/XB1 owners. This is why they are and will stay more succesful consoles if Nintendo continues with this lower power and less content approach.

The console with the worst launch line up ever sells the best? What am I missing?

Very interesting and appealing hardware, one of best game ever like launch title, great brending and marketing. You know, all things that Wii U didnt had.

I expect (much) more from a console, even in its first year. Wii U had a much better first year line up but somehow managed to sell way less.

So Zelda BotW, MK8 Deluxe, ARMS, Splatoon2, Xenoblade 2, Mario Odyssey...and definitely 1-2 games that are not still announced, plus games like Skyrim, Fifa, NBA...in 9 months of console on market are embarrassing and they are there is not variety!? You dont know what are you talking.

Evre platform has 1st year slower, saying that, Switch will have one stronger game on average every 1.5 month with some 3rd party or Indie games between in 2017.

Are you serious!? Just Zelda BotW blows away complete 1st year Wii U, and beside Zelda BotW Switch will have MK8D, Splatoon 2 and Mario Odyssey in its 9 months on market, basically some of biggest Nintendo IPs in 9 months of console on market. Even just trying comparing that with Wii U 1st year games is ludicrous.

Past all the titles and headllines, The Switch is off to a great start. They gotta keep that momentum going and show dedicated third party developers it's worth the time to develop for the switch, even if they have to make more focused game for the Switch if it may not handle the CoDs or Titanfalls. No doubt Nintendo first party titles will shine in here, BotW, MK8D, splatoon 2, potentially Arms. They keep laying their cards right, they will give Sony stiff competition...and Sony will step up their goodies game (not the games themselves but other services like better PS+ games and refunds, etc)
