Forums - Gaming - WORST controllers you have used.

I only game with official controllers.

And out of all of those, I have to say the N64 controller.

Yeah. I kinda give it a pass for being innovative but it was kinda shit.

I remember holding it the "old fashioned way" anticipating how good it was going to feel when I played a standard fighting game on it. When I finally got my hands on Killer Instinct, it was too stiff to accurately perform fighting game moves. When using the (loose) analog stick, my hands were too close together.

It was just a mess.

Any PlayStation controller I've used. They are really small and I don't like how the two analogs are close to each other. Can't speak for the DS4 though, only used one briefly at a store once.

Dualshock 1, 2 and 3.

Wiimote.

Wii U gamepd.

Nothing like Xbox controllers (XOne controller > X360 tho).

I've always disliked the N64 controller. I never felt comfortable holding it, and while the buttons were solid enough, the analog stick was all kind of sluggish. And I thought it was always extremely weird to just have that third grip hanging out there, like you're missing an extra hand to hold it.

The PS3 controller felt like a toy to me. My fingers kept sliding off the triggers, the anolog sticks were way too loose and were also bulging out, only adding to the lack of grip. The controller was too light for my liking. Even the Xbox 360 wired controller, without the weight of the batteries, was much more heavier. And obviously, the inferior layout sucked with the analog stick below the d-pad (sorry, 2d platforming and fighting game fans). The Dualshock 4 was awesome tho, as it fixed like 99% of the dualshock 3's problems.

Bet with Intrinsic:

The Switch will outsell 3DS (based on VGchartz numbers), according to me, while Intrinsic thinks the opposite will hold true. One month avatar control for the loser's avatar.

Probably the PS3 controller. Felt really small in my hands, and really unflexible. Also hated that it had a special charger that none of my other electronics used, but to be fair, that's something applies to other controllers.

PS4 controller is amazing though...though it makes the PS3 one feel even worse now.

The 360 controller is by far my least fav controller.  That D Pad was horrible.

Nintendo Switch Friend Code: SW-5643-2927-1984

Animal Crossing NH Dream Address: DA-1078-9916-3261

Intellivision controllers, It's not really a controller, just a box with numeric keys.

Switch in handheld mode. I keep accidentally pressing R1 or L1 when I have to hike it back up when the Switch slowly slips out of my hands. Plus the motion controls in handheld mode feel backward, I always turn the opposite direction when trying to aim. Nvm some of hammer puzzles are impossible in handheld mode.

WiiU gamepad. It physically hurt to play FRN on that, cramping my right hand.

Mouse + KB. Years and years of this have left me with a half fused disc in my neck. I can't play with that for more than half an hour nowadays until stopped by pain.

I would say 360 controller > ps3. DS3 was so flimsy I broke many of them last gen. DS4 fixes everything wrong with DS3 though, I prefer it over the 360 one. (Haven't tried XB1 constrollers yet) I prefer both sticks in the bottom position as I spend most time on 3D action games and racing.

1) Wiimote

The sensor bar was far too unreliable. You had to manually replace the batteries after the charge ran out. The controller is made to hold like a remote, and while this works well for rail shooters (Sin and Punishment is fantastic), it is otherwise extremely awkward to use.

2) Colecovision

You had to hold your hand as if you are picking up a disc off of a table to move the joystick.

3) Xbox

Far too large. The button and analog layout is scrambled. It didn't even possess a passable D-pad making fighting games almost unplayable. The S version was slightly better.

Every PlayStation controller that isn't the DS4, and the Wii Remote on its side.

"Just for comparison Uncharted 4 was 20x bigger than Splatoon 2. This shows the huge difference between Sony's first-party games and Nintendo's first-party games."
