Forums - Gaming - Director talks about bringing Star Wars: Battlefront II to Nintendo Switch and Scorpio

the site Level Up has made an exclusive interview with Mark Thompson, director of the game, who said that Star Wars: Battlefront II will use the power of Project Scorpio, without giving further information about it. “It is a game made with Frostbite. It is a graphics engine which is always at the forefront of any hardware we have out there,” Thompson said.

As for the Nintendo Switch, the director simply mentioned “that one is a question for another day,” nevertheless, he did not rule out the possibility to see the game on the new console of the Big N. In any case, we will have to wait for more information on this.

Star Wars: Battlefront II will have a single player campaign mode. The story will be starring Iden Versio, commander of the Infernal Squadron. It will be a story of revenge, betrayal and redemption that takes place over 30 years to tell the events that took place between the end of Episode VI and the beginning of Episode VII.

The first installment was heavily criticized for having a shortage of content at its launch, and having a Season Pass in which too much content was offered at a high price. Electronic Arts seems to have listened to its players and will bet on a different policy, and there will be no Season Pass for this new title.

Recall that Star Wars: Battlefront II, the second part of the successful game will launch on November 17 on PS4, Xbox One and PC. Besides everything else, DICE has shown interest in launching the game also on the new platforms of Nintendo Switch and Project Scorpio.

They'd have to put in a lot of work to make it run well on Switch. I would expect Scorpio support.

Scorpio is a must I think. No need to waste their time on the Switch with this one.

I love how advertising for proxy works. You have a game, with no intention to port it to a particular hardware, and instead of just confirming it won't come, you leave it as vague as possible, or that you'll say it another day. Then that audience can still read about the game with some sort of hope. The article is called "Director talks about bringing Star Wars: Battlefront II to Nintendo Switch and Project Scorpio" but it only has about two lines about the Switch, those being basically "Don't know, maybe yes, maybe not" and the rest talking about the game itself.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

The article is grasping for straws for sure but I can understand why a developer would leave vague statements even if there are no plans to bring it to the Switch. Keep people interested in the game and hope some of them buys it on other platforms. It's dickish but that's marketing for ya!

Well it might also make some wait for the Switch version, so they could lose some sales.

Well there's good news in this. I'll be ambiguously open to this because there's a good possibility it's under an NDA as far as the Switch is concerned which means they can talk after E3 if it's coming to the Switch. We'll know by then. As for the Scorpio it better come to that system. That being said Battlefront is a perfect game for both platforms. One for LANing it up and another to immerse yourself in that world. I'm quite excited for Battlefront II!!! :)

Please no. This game is visually on a complete different level. It's just one of the type of games where PC is just the first option to play.

In the end we will get a bad looking, bad performing game, where EA will say: " See, we knew that EA games on Nintendo won't do well."

Port a game like Unravel to the Switch and see how good of a port it can become.

They need to clarify some time before launch that a Switch version isn't happening.

No way this game could reach 60FPS 720p on Switch, even in docked mode. It's way too demanding.
