The gamerevolver.com website is bogus, or the other review that said the install took 85 min.?
...
The one which talked about the splitscreen was supposedly from cgreviews, but I don't know how someone could take it seriously... It was very badly written and didn't even look like a review, besides the author later declared that it was bogus.

Yeah, please head over to the world software attach rates from Jan. '08 until now. Based on the number of consoles sold, as well as current owners, I don't believe the 360 has had a week where it was under 1M games moved. And that's without packed-in games either. Do it and see for yourself. Broken record? LOL - I can hardly wait until the 360 version owns the PS3 version. Price matters big time. I'm calling the shot - make sure you bookmark this page and revive it a month after GTA IV drops. I'll gladly feast on crow if I'm wrong. For a person working a low-paying job, with little cash and they wanna play GTA - to think they are gonna pay $480 plus just to play a version of GTA with no hopes of extra episodes is enough to make me run and get my asthma pump from laughing sooo hard. Sure, it will move a few consoles, but the way MS is gonna pimp the extra content angle, and plaster it online and on TV, even if folks never buy the content, MS has a sale. Ads work wonders - and MS is gonna own GTA IV. Mark my words. |
How has that lower price (extremely low in Japan, and now Europe with the recent price cuts) been working out for them these past three months?
And GT5P will easily counteract any effect GTAIV DLC will have. It's releasing only two weeks before GTAIV in NA, remember.
| Gamer4eva said: Oh come on. Hu really thinks the 360 is gonna benifit more with GT5P and MGS4 right round the corner. Price isnt a big issue as current sales show and if u look at recent software sales PS3 can move a considerable amount. Free Online and Blu Ray are huge pluses for the PS3 not to mention reliable hardware and a bigger harddrive than the 360 Premiuim. Achievements don't matter as PS3 has Accomplishments and no one knows anything about this Extra DLC and you are gonna have to pay for it anyway for something that could have been in the game from the start. Controllers can be argued about but most PS2 owners will take the PS3 controller and stick to something they are familiar with. |
Actually it's quite easy.
GTA4 will sell most on 360 in the States and on PS3 in Europe. Also the console sales will be divided that way. Why? Because in the US the 360 is much more known and loved and in Europe the PS3. The kind of people that bought the PS2 in masses bought it because they heard it was great. So, in the US there are much more people playing 360 than PS3, so much more people are familiar with it.
# GT5P and MGS4 are hardcore games, they have nothing to do with where the majority of GTA4 buyers will go (and yeah, GT5P is hardcore, ever seen a casual pay $40,- for the Prologue to a race-sim?).
# Price isn't a big issue?!? Where do you live? Price is probably the main issue for casual gamers. You say that the recent trends show that it's not an issue, but the recent trend is nothing compared to what will be sold with GTA4, that won't be your 70.000 US week, I can tell you that. PS2 was already alot cheaper when GTA arrived.
# hmmm, you really think casuals will care about a bigger hardrive? They probably don't care about RRoD, because they never heard of it, or they know they'll get 3 years waranty.
Your bias becomes kind of obvious when you do think RRoD and harddrive space is an issue, but price/achievements and DLC won't.
haha, Europe and others don't give a shit about the 360 and SONY will own there, guarnteed. Another thing yeah the 360 will have the advantage in the US from a software standpoint, duh. But I guarntee you MGS4 and GT5P which are probably billion dollar franchises will out do a measly $100 price difference. And wen u factor in Blu-Ray which everyone is gonna have, causuals will care about that and anyone u says they won't is a fool. The 360 arcade won't do shit factoring in GTA IV based off the fact it don't have a hard drive for the install. Multiplayer a new feature for the GTA series will help SONY more based off the fact the online is free and i guarntee u some causuals will have online and be aware about it. PS3 will have accomplishments so acheivements will cancel each other out. The episodic content u will have to pay for and if we are to belive that they don't finish GTA's then y the fuck would they want it. Hardware issues for the 360 won't help its image either. I'm not saying the cheaper price point wont do anything, it will just not as be as big as some people belive it will be.

Well i must say that the majority of gamers dont even know that a new GTA game is coming. Is those same gamers that look the back of the box in order to decide on buying a game and the same people that bought a Wii to watch movies (i do have one example of this lol, he actually put a dvd in the wii and then he found out that it doesnt plays them).
They will found out about GTA eventually, and what they know is that is a playstation game. some will go for the 360 but the majority will get it for the ps3.
SW: I see ps3 winning EU easily, in the US 360 will have a lot better first sales but in the long run will end up close.
HW: in ww hw sales in see ps3 moving a lot more consoles. No reason actually, im only judging by the sales of the 2 the last months.
I like technology when its moving forward..
