In their analysis, DF found only rare framerate drops on Xbox One, a practically perfect 30fps on PS4, and a very well optimized PC version. Overall, they say it looks and runs great on all platforms.

Performance issues have mostly been ironed out.
But Runs and looks great? No, I disagree. This game does not - DOES NOT - warrant 30fps on Xbox One and PS4. They seem to judge whether the FPS is good based on what the dev targeted and no, that's not the standard. This should be 60fps. This is down to lack of some basic optimization efforts (some of which seem plain to see) and most importantly the absolutely, positively bafflingly absurd decision to go wtih UNITY with these kinds of goals in graphics. Unreal Engine 4 would have been a far, far superior choice.
But the graphics taken as they are do not warrant the extreme praise given here and definitely don't warrant 30fps on PS4 and Xbox One.
TL:DR version of video:
Xbox Version:
Some xbox one's have serious stutter apparently. After hard booting for each play through, DF didnt have this issue.
Very minor slow downs at times, but does drop below 30 sometimes.
Alpha effects (fire) can cause it to drop to 20 fps, if theres alot of it going on.
Load screen about 23 secounds.
PS4:
Rock Solid performance, even with tons of alpha effects.
No pro version out yet.
load screen about 16 secounds.

Yeah it being old school is a good thing.
Get it on PC or PS4.

Of course, those are the only two platforms I plan to get it on lol. Cant think of any other platform to get it on. |
Its comeing to xbox as well right? and maybe the Switch?
But if it has issues on the xbox, Im not sure how well it would run on the switch.

I know its coming to those systems but I cant see myself buying it on a Xbox because...I dont have an Xbox and I dont buy third party titles on Nintendo consoles unless they are exclusive is what I mean :p |
Im in the same situation... Im leaning most towards PC (keep it forever mentality)... but I need to see some benchmarks first... Im kinda worried my pc cant run it.

I get the feeling that a lot of their praise is because it looks and runs so good for a Unity game. I mean, it's definitely a big step up from the likes of, say, Super Bomberman R.
But yeah, not the best choice of engine in my opinion either. They probably chose it cos it was free, dunno if UE4 was yet when they started development.
Still, its reassuring to hear that the framerate issues are nowhere near as bad as internet forums seemed to indicate.

But it's not free is what baffles me. There's a free version but to get seroius - as they wanted to - you need to at least pay $75 a month iirc. UE4 was I think $25 a month at the time? So yeah, no idea.
And yeah, it's impressive for Unity but that's the issue, this is the top of what Unity can do and it struggles with it at that. Hopefully Playtonic can step in and help improve things some but I highly doubt it since it would require a lot of work to get appreciable improvements done.
Looks good, guess issues are only for certain systems?
Still on the fence with this game so will have to wait and see :p

Beats me then. Isn't Unity supposed to be quite flexible and easy to work with, isn't that how it got so popular?
