Eh, I think you're wrong. OP doesn't have a story of doing those kind of things; and I think he's actually a Sony fan (always looked like that at least).

Eh, I think you're wrong. OP doesn't have a story of doing those kind of things; and I think he's actually a Sony fan (always looked like that at least).

Fair enough...  Just seems odd to say a game fails for something I haven't even run into in 30+ hours of playthrough.

Yeah, fish do that. But I have noticed other small details that are nice to have, like if you are high in a mountain, and Aloy talks, you can hear the echo. Red plants (medicinal ones for example) are snow covered if you found them in a snowy place.

EDIT: And duuuude, store gets complex after a while... It really surprised me for the good. I didnt expect good narrative since Killzones didnt have one. Sad thing is that you have to find and read so much text to get it straight.

And you dont even need slow-mo to begin with, its not like the game is so hard that you constantly need to be in slow mo to beat the enemies, the slow mo time the concentration ability gives you is more than enough to deal with anything, there is no need to constantly bunny hop for slow mo... plus as i said it looks so stupid that i personally would never even do that.

It's a valid strategy since counter strike although without the slowmo :p I'm not that quick at aiming so when the game gives me the ability to use slow mo then I'll take it, bunny hopping around a group of corrupted scrappers or whatever.

Interesting, hopefully it doesn't rely too much on the text as I tend to ignore snippets found in a random order. I guess I could read all the stuff when have found a lot yet that kind of story delivery is not for me. And true, the sound design is excellent, music, weighty sound effects that even sound great in slowmo, convincing echos instead of sounding precanned.

Anyway, I've seen the complete map now while catching up. Looks like in this game jagged edged dark areas are not to be filled in so I'll stop trying :) It's just that I rather hike over a mountain than use fast travel, yet now I know I should go around.

Different play style I guess. I'm drawn to dark spots on maps like a moth to a flame and map towers are spoilers imo. But understood now, map has holes in it, fair enough. Seeing that huge map a bit further up in the thread I'm still only in a tiny little corner lol.

As far as my playing of it has taught me, there are no invisible walls. There is certainly water and mountains there but they're not the same as invisible walls.

If you continue into the desert you hit an invisible wall , it happened to me  and there was some kind of turn back or similar  message.

True, but did  the OP hit an invisible barrier or was it something else that stopped him  like slipping off the trail, if so it's like the sandstorm a way of telling you that you can't go there, either way  to me they still come off as one because i was able to continue through the sandstorm to an abitary point then I'm stopped yet I can continue parallel, now if it had redirected me by having say the winds push me in a certain direction then I wouldn't have thought of it as a wall.

Still I'm not complaining about them the world has to end  somewhere and i would rather this than say  an area repeating itself untill you gave up .  What Ido like though is , if I'm any thing to go by, opening up the map by using the towers takes away a lot of that lets walk to the edge of the world to see where it is.

All I get out of this is Nintendo where cleverer at disguising the boundries and horizon not to bad either except for one instance we know of .

What hasn't gotten a mention is it's obvious that Horizon is story then a open world and Botw is open world then story and that difference in focus is what we are seeing.

Yeah, I tried in many places, even where there is no black spot, and got dissapointed because one of that routes wouldve been amazing for views and shortening the path.

But yeah, I recommend more time fighting and less hiking... But just this morning there was a part of the story where I was supposed to fight tons of enemies, and I just hiked round them avoiding most of the fight :D Nice to see that is not that rigged at least, since it let me avoid most confrontation on that part.

Lvl 40 now... bad thing is that im in the lvl25 of the main quest... Guess I spent so much time killing/grinding wihtout realizing I wasnt going forward in story.

That sounds like LoD has better design, because walking around on a world map that gives the illusion of freedom while not providing real freedom drags things out and merely creates filler between the better parts of the game.

As someone who played Load back in the day, let me point out one thing. You could take a step too far to the east and have to swap discs. Then have to swap discs again to go back to where you were.  It was far from seemless.
