Should they make an M-rated Metroid game?

An M-rated Metroid is an excellent idea, it's a natural fit for the source material, which was always a dark sci-fi with horror vibes, heavily inspired by the film Alien. (Hence "Ridley" named after that film's director)

Nintendo are sorely lacking in adult-oriented content and this would be a great way to bring some diversity to their lineup.

Just keep Sakamoto the hell away from it and give it to a Western dev.

Well, this can either mean that we'll see Samus blowing people's heads off, or we'll get a lot more Zero Suit action!

That's who I thought. That fucker should never, NEVER, touch a Nitnendo game again!!

Amen brother. Gah, nearly 7 years on and I'm still bitter about that horrific game...

M might as well stand for "Mainstream". This is super selfish, but I don't want mainstream shooter fans infiltrating the beautiful Metroid fan community. If they can't appreciate the perfection that is the Metroid Prime Trilogy, that's their problem, not mine.

I'd rather be playing Metroid Prime

I mean is not going to be much different, games like Prime already feature things like killing, corpses and its dark lore.

What would make it M rated add? blood? just for the lols?

Having an M rating for the sake of an M rating isn't really the way to go, in my opinion.. focusing on good gameplay and story is the priority, and you can still make dark games without the need of an M rating

If they need an M rating to achieve this, then it's fine too

Yep, games like Kirby feature plenty of dark lore already being a E rated series and other individual examples like Super Paper Mario.

Making M-rated games isn't a sign of growing up, it's a sign of being juvenile. This idea is merely another path to create a mess like Other M. People who are attracted by an M-rating don't have the brains to handle Metroid, people who like Metroid don't want a dumbed down game.

Really? Silent Hill would be almost impossible without an M-rating, is that game considered juvenile?
