Forums - Sony - Guerrilla: Horizon’s Sequel Would Have To Have An Equally Deep Story & More Machines

Horizon was a great game but like any other new ip is has room for improvement and I do hope to see a sequel to see what else they can do.

I hope they will improve battles with humans. And add as much interesting side-quest as they can.

I havent finished it, and yet I want a sequel announced right now!

Btw, they should implement some kind of way to order your controller machines to do some specific tasks... Like atack a specific enemy or so.

"We all make choices, but in the end, our choices make us" - Andrew Ryan, Bioshock.

I want better stealth mechanics (it's just way WAY too easy too sneak around just about anything in this game) as well as more weapons. Other than that, I'm pretty satisfied. Story? Don't care, I skipped all the Cutscenes.

...also we think the gameplay should be displayed on some sort of screen and there should be controls to interact with the game.

“It appeared that there had even been demonstrations to thank Big Brother for raising the chocolate ration to twenty grams a week. And only yesterday, he reflected, it had been announced that the ration was to be reduced to twenty grams a week. Was it possible that they could swallow that, after only twenty-four hours? Yes, they swallowed it.”

I get the impression another game was always in the plan as the ending kinda shouted that loud and clear....

Well, kind of obvious, isnt it?But I will be looking foward anyways!

Oh, improve in one more thing:music.Music is so underappreciated in games nowadays.

Horizon has one of the greatest game soundtracks I have ever heard and one of the greatest main themes that rivals motion pictures' finest!

I agree with the main theme. The main theme is very good. But outside of that, its very meh.I will grant that it is better than most western games, but thats not much of a compliment, since most western music are bad(they sound like a generic Michael Bay soundtrack for me).I am not fan of the more ambient-oriented music that many games has going for.I know they are essential and very good when used wisely(lets say when you are travelling betwenn citites and you are in a road for example), but there should be more epic musics for battles, specific places like important cities or key story moments.

When I compare them to music from franchises like FF, Persona, and most japanese franchises music really, they all just fell boring and flat.Even MGS V, the franchise which usually has good music, is extremely dissapointing in that regard, save for the theme music(Sins of the Father is very good)

My (locked) thread about how difficulty should be a decision for the developers, not the gamers.

Horizon Zero Dawn Dev “Looking Closely” at Critiques While Planning Its Future

In May’s issue of the Game Informer magazine, Guerrilla Games spoke about the response it received to Horizon Zero Dawn and what the IP’s future may hold. Narrative Director John Gonzalez particularly discussed his thoughts on a potential sequel, stating that if the studio was to go ahead with it, he’d focus on the connection that players have established with Aloy.

“We’ve been absolutely humbled by the players’ response to the story and their emotional connection to Aloy,” said Gonzalez. “Should a sequel happen, our number one goal would be to respect that connection by doing our utmost to create a story that resonates just as deeply.”

Art Director Jan-Bart van Beek wants to add more machines in the future because they are “fun to design, build, animate, and play with.” He said that he wishes Guerrilla could have added up to a hundred machines in first game but “reality is a harsh mistress” and it wasn’t feasible to do that.

Elsewhere, Game Director Mathijs de Jonge discussed critical response to Horizon. Although he’s happy with the end result and the praise, he’s looking into the criticisms as well. “We are looking closely at any critiques as part of plotting out our plans for the future of Horizon,” he revealed.

A sequel wouldn’t surprise anyone given the game’s success not just critically but also commercially. In its first two weeks alone, it sold through more than 2.6 million copies worldwide.
