Forums - Gaming - Is there a war coming? Square Enix says it'll prioritize the Switch over the Scorpio

Title says it all, and article is bellow.

Seems rather normal to me really, Square Enix is extremely strong on eastern RPG's, which are one of the core sales point of Nintendo consoles, while the XBox is much more western, action oriented...

It's still an "attack" on a new console. They are clearly saying they have little interest in it, when Microsoft os trying to create hype. Show some confrontational stance I think.

They also prioritized the DS over the 360 and the 3DS over the Xbox One so... what's new?

Not really a surprise. A company that focuses on JRPGs and games that mostly sell well in Japan is going to support more a handheld than the home console with the least amount of presence in Japan.

You know it deserves the GOTY.

Well, to them it makes a lot of sense. PS4 is dominating the sales worldwide and Switch will probably be big in Japan, so they can prioritize those two consoles to get to the audience they want.

After all, prioritize one platform over another one doesn't mean that they won't do anything on the later, just that they'll put more efford and probably some exclusives, on the first one. The One and Scorprio will sill get FF VII Remake and all the AAA games from Square-Enix.

Japanese dev who will have a priority to develop for a console which is from Japan, will sell much better in Japan, is a new console and not "only" an upgrade from a console already out and where their games (at least the smaller more niche ones) will sell better on?

Who would have thought!

Its all about money. They go where the money is, and they believe theres more to be made on the switch than the scorpio.

"Attack on a new console"

What new console? The Switch is the only new console.

It's a way of speaking offcourse. I meant that while Microsoft is pushing a new gun to try and gain ground against the PS4's advantage, big players like Square Enix are not helping by saying they will be prioritizing other players on the market instead of them, or at least saying they will be looking at all consoles equally.

That, to my understanding, may generate some bitterness.

They prefer every platform over Xbox. Since PS is there main platform and they just port whatever comes out for PS. Except Tomb Raider.

Please excuse my (probally) poor grammar

I've read the source interview and unless I missed it, there's barely anything about scorpio and what is said about it is nothing like any of this. It sounds like this article is just some clickbait trying to get some clicks. The article quoted a geogaf post which had a interview has the source. The interview was nothing like the article suggested it was.
