Actually I think Persona 4, from what I've read, might actually be a horror RPG. Or maybe a Mystery RPG.....well it's unique sounding atleast.
...
Platforming Strategy Game - It uses a 2D platforming setup, but is a strategy game akin to Fire Emblem. The way characters are in relation to each other would have a major effect on the game. For example, if your character is on a platform above an enemy character, you'd have an advantage in combat because you'd be jumping down from above with a lot of momentum behind you.

Romance RPG - No not for me, thanks, but women gamers are a growing audience and there could be a market for this style of game if done well and thoughfully.
Social based MMO - This could take many forms, but a key componant would be to create and maintain a large social network of friends/allies which you can then get to preform certain tasks for you, or trade/sell or obtain info etc. Could involve setting spys into other groups to gain into and give them misinfo. This also creates a sense of who-do-you-trust-with-what play. Could be similar to My Sims or FFCC:My Life as a King (or whatever it's called) except you need to entice REAL people to come/work with you.
Vertual simulators - Part Virtual Boy, Part Wiimote - Totally encompassing simulation of action, FPS or Sim gameplay. BE a Jedi Knight! Large open space required.
Platformer+Shooter+RPG - Has RPG elements and storyline, but is a 2d sidescrolling platformer/fighing game, but at any time can switch to an overhead shooter type flying game by calling your ship.... Some areas can be cleared either way entirely, others will require using both effectively.
A lot of the genres I thought they'd never make (such as farming/combat, sports/RPG, and RTS/RPG) have been made. But I'll give it a shot...
Practical/FPS: Think Brain Training meets Halo. Give your brain a workout by doing quick math problems, color-matching, and word games while blowing enemy troops into oblivion in a fast-paced combat environment. Special puppy-training section also challenges your ability to take care of animals, and is darn cute. A "game of the year" canidate for sure.
Sky Render - Sanity is for the weak.

@Torillian
I think Persona is a dating sim and RPG hybrid.
OT
Classic beat `em up - the genre is dead, so it is almost like a new genre. Ultimate Brawler Deluxe - just get Double Dragon, Final Fight and Streets of Rage characters together.

Give me an idea:
Beast-master FPS: Part Nintendogs, part strategy/squad based FPS but instead (or as well as) using guns, you send your specially trained dogs, falcons, dolphins, ferret, etc. out to take out enemies or perform specific tasks. As you train them they gain new ablities. Ride a horse (or elephant!) - don't think I've ever seen a FPS from horseback before...
Flight-simulation RPG-Similar in a way to Ace Combat but with deep RPG elements including costumizable stats and you could have a deep story if you wated too but not necessary
